I use the .NET API for uploads/ratings/favs/comments/searches. It's a LOT faster than messing with POST/GET vars and uploads directly since it's based on XML, but there are stringent quota limitations that you will run into if you try to use the API for BH purposes and even using a proxy doesn't always solve them.

what you mean "stringent quota limitations"

u saying there is a limit on uploading with 1 developer id?

you cant just make developer ids and rotate them? and then change then once in a while?

    thanks

Tried that, it only works up until a certain point. But maybe that's because I registered all the developerids on the same IP :smashfrea

Couldn't say exactly, I think it depends on the size of the videos. To give you an idea, for favorites the quota is 300 per half hour (without the quota you could do about five times that).

also i looked for the API limitations: they are stated here:

    http://code.google.com/support/bin/answer.py?answer=92613&topic=12366

The following limits exist for uploading videos through the Data API:

    * Videos can be no longer than 10 minutes.
    * Videos can be no larger than 100 megabytes.
    * One account can have no more than 1000 videos.

So were u trying to upload more than 1000 videos per account?

how many did you try to upload per account?

your developer id stopped you or was it something else?

everything would be tracked under developer id, i think its best to do it without api. they are not dumb to let you just get away with it easily.

still they monitor all that stuff, if a developer id wasnt used then it would be great. but that is not the case. they would soon find out its not a innocent service when uploading shitloads of videos.
