Youtube and facebook fan page

Hi guys, when running a new blog did you see any benefit from connecting your website to a Facebook fan page or to a Youtube account?

Considering doing this but I wonder if I am just wasting time.

I know Facebook can be a very good referral source but you need a large fanbase for this to work.

If you connect a youtube and you're getting view's on your videos, annotate them with a link to your blog, also add a link in the description. Add some sort of offer to entice them to visit your blog. This can be a great traffic increase to your blog .
