Youtube account enabled for monetization?

I live in Cyprus, and i know my country is not allowed for youtube monetization. But i was suprised when i saw that my brothers account was enabled, and the status was saying he was a partner. I checked the country which he registered with gmail, and quess what...it was USA lol. Now i am really curious, is that easy to enable monetization just by "faking" the country?

I don't think so. Try going into your account settings and changing the country.

I tried it, i changed my country from Cyprus to US, and then after 10 minutes, i got the blue notice that was saying: your account is ready for monetization! So, it worked for me also. Anyone had similar situation?
