Youtube 2015 changes plus changes

I heard everyone saying Youtube sucks because on this 2015 they gonna remove all of the music that has steady videos and that is being commercialized thru Adsense ,they say they want to control musicians by forcing them to sign a 5 year contract with them and in other words Youtube is not gonna work for musicians that want to promote their music videos there for the depicted or in other words musicians that want to become celebrities glamurous and famous wont be able only if they sign that damned contract.

All this buzz I heard is true up to this April 9 2015 ?

It's nearly impossible to find real info. You can see yt terms, but if you read some of the back and forth they've had with Zoe keating, they claim NOT to be doing some of the exact stuff that's in the terms. It's probably just a matter of time 'till some of the Music Key terms are deemed illegal (forcing 5 year contract, forcing musician to have EVERY piece of music they own on yt immediately if they have ANY piece up, etc.) Worst contract terms I've ever seen.

In the meantime, they're doing a piss poor job of clarifying the issues, and explaining how any of it ties into existing Content ID issues which require signing up through a third part (nearly all of whom have purposefully misleading terms, etc).

It's a mess.

So still Youtube hasnt acted yet?,still is barking?,can musician still upload their music videos?
,well if it has already happend really its not noticed ,there are tons of music videos ,and music with steady image.

I don't know exact status. They've been so wishy washy about it. Soft launch. The first few in music key have already seen royalty statements. In the meantime, three fourths of the folks out there don't even know anything is brewing. There have been some half assed announcements about availability to end users, but even that was I think limited in scope and delivery area.

Either they changed the terms or just lied when they told Keating she could still do "windowing". I think most people won't even know anything has changed until someone illegaly posts one of their unreleased tracks or something and they ask YT to take it down and YT refuses... or they leave YT and YT refuses to take any of their stuff down.

... well, that and the fact that they've got to wait twice as long to get paid.

Youtube is just trying to copy spotify and pay artist 0.000001 per play instead of the normally video pay

The anti Spotify stuff cracks me up.

I can say after personally reviewing statements for dozens of artists that the per spin on Spotify even including the free accounts is MUCH higher than YT.

No comparison, really.

If Youtube were trying to pay more like Spotify, that'd be a good thing. I highly doubt that's going to happen. It may for the short term, but it will go down as the pool increases.

Never did quite understand why people bash Spotify while giving YT a free pass. Mainly confusion and misinformation about artist vs songwriter royalties, and confusion and misinformation about what Spotify pays vs what little piece of that the labels actually pass on.

Financially speaking, an average Spotify user (including the free ones in the average) generates more revenue than an average iTunes user. That's just a statistical fact... and both companies pay out the same percentage... which means the average Spotify user (again, including the free ones in that average) generates more ARTIST INCOME than the average iTunes customer.

You want to get upset at someone, start with Facebook who doesn't give a crap that their platform is being used to freeboot your stuff, and is doing absolutely nothing to drive any compensation whatsoever.

Spotify pays out 70% to artists. Youtube pays 55% in theory, but does some accounting gymnastics that would make a 50's era record label proud. Facebook pays 0%.

And Facebook is the one offender in which artist spend the most time,oh where is my facebook?,thank you punkinhead

But what about contentID for youtube?
My son did a remix and added it to routenote.
All his money he earned came from YT and that was all because of the use of ContentID.
Spotify and Itunes gave no money at all.

Isnt it because you didnt promote but only your Youtube stuff?,because routenote only distributes you but if you want to sell the stuff you got on spotify or I tunes then you must also promote it yourself,I tell you because lately I talked with a distributor and he says that they only distribute and that is just that,promotion is the one thing is on your behalf.

Other reason can be that your son sold Youtube because they are hugest in the world now a days,and he got only some of their charm,if its not bad education asking ,how much earned your son and in what frame of time?
