Is it the new bitcoin.... I regret not buying some bitcoins when they were $12 a piece (they are now $800+).

Do you guys think this will pick up steam like bitcoin in 1-3-5 years?

You can never know, so that's why you shouldn't invest too much in it, but also not ignore it because you are going to regret it later.

Majority of these alt-coins peek for a few months then drop of the face of the earth.
Should you invest in it? No one can say. Something could happen tomorrow causing the price to shoot up.

That's the main problem with Crypto-Currencies, they are so volatile

I'm collecting Stellar at the moment. It has a good pedigree.
I've doubled my hold in the last 3 days due to its volatility.
I see it as a climber.

I invested in REDD earlier this year and even recommended it.

I've since given up on REDD and switched to DOGE, which isn't doing great either.

Biggest problem I perceived is that the REDD developer team is not made up of developers(sigh). They had to outsource programming work in order to fix problems earlier this year. This got me worried so I dumped REDD.

My 2 cents about Reddcoin.

I think it has some really good momentum and if you are thinking about getting some then now is the time.

Steller is also really good at the moment. Last week I signed up for steller and was given 300 coins, if you connect your fbook they gave you a random bonus. I was given 10,000 steller so had 10,300. Then sold the 10,300 steller for 0.08 BTC on justcoin which was worth about $47. After getting the BTC I then transferred it to cryptsy and traded it for litecoin then traded that for a few different alt coins.

No most alt coins don't go anywhere, look at doge for example which was like a 'big' thing last year, but that's the gamble of it, you might get lucky... better is to just trade in bitcoin, MAYBE lightcoin, I lost like 300$ last year trading litecoin so I'm biased about it haha

I own about 16 million RDD. 12 million I bought, and 4 million I acquired during the recent pump and dump.

I am extremely optimistic about this coin and if I could, I would buy MUCH more.

The future of social media is going to involve tipping of content instead of just the usual liking of content. I see this major change happening over the next 3 years. It will reinvent social media and turn simple likes into something much more useful.

The question is, will Reddcoin be the main means of this social tipping? Or will another coin take its place?

My answer is Reddcoin FTW for four reasons.

1: It has a development team that is far beyond that of any other coin. Seriously, these guys are amazing and are over delivering each chance they get. The amount of professionalism in this coin is somewhat unreal.

2: The community is growing, growing, growing, and won't be slowing down anytime soon.

3: The purpose of this coin is as clear as Fiji water. "The Social Currency". Most alt coins are complete junk and have no end goal in mind. That is why there are pumped and dumped until left completely worthless. Reddcoin isn't just another altcoin... It may well be the future of social media tipping. And if this happens and mainstream picks up on it, I am going to be rich.

4: Proof of stake and velocity. This is something that the Reddcoin devs created just recently and it pretty much means you get 5% interest on the amount of coins in your wallet. POSV encourages both activity of the coin, and ownership of the coin. Plus, it doesn't eat up electricity. Many new alt coins are now flocking to POSV which just shows how innovative it is.

Honestly, I wish I had more RDD. If even one of the major social networks adopts its tipping system, as well as the mainstream public, I can see this coin easily rising above 500 sat.

And to answer your question, no. Reddcoin will not be the next Bitcoin. It may be something much much bigger. A coin with an actual purpose, adopted by the mainstream public, and shaping the way people share content online. Mmmm, now I do love the sound of that.

ps. Bitcoin is sitting at $540, not $800+

How many of the other alt coins promised great things, had great communities along with good developers/people behind it.. I can tell you it's a lot of them.
Sadly they never got anywhere. It's a gamble, one that I hope will pay off for you

I'm sitting on a couple of million, although I have lots of others too. I'm not actively doing much though, just speculating and hoping that one day one of them goes big. (All up I've maybe thrown $200 at my speculating, which is just a cheapish night out really.)

I do like the idea of Redd though, as SeanAustin said above it was designed with a purpose.

Thanks for everyone's input.

It does sound like it has some legs!

I will def. get a few and just let them mature for a few months/years...

I'd hate to miss out on the gravy boat again!

Party Marty is right, if FB/Imgur/Google+ or REDDit decides to add REDDCoin's tipping system then it will fly off like a rocket and the mainstream media will start talking about it.... the rest will be history.
