I do not mean just on this forum, but in life in general.

Once you get accused of something, even if 100% wrongly, the stigma may be carried with you to the end of your days. Sexual assault is one example from a jealous ex who wants to ruin you because you "upgraded" socially or financially. Financial is another one and your ability to be prompt in your obligations, pay off people on time, return money when you have to.

You cannot be sure you will avoid all trouble no matter if you are 100% a straight arrow. But being preemptive with who you bring closer to you in life and business, vet them a bit if you will if a lot is at stake, is your best bet to eliminate such possibility especially now with social media that sends things viral with no reason or proof needed.

Speaking of this forum only, when I see even a dispute opened against someone, even if they are 100% on the right, I am a little more hesitant to do any future dealings with that person. There is a faint taint on that avatar in my mind when I see them around the forum posting if you know what I mean. This is just how we function as humans. Trust is built slowly over time and can accelerate bringing you a lot of benefits, but it can crumble in literally an instant. It's not fair but it is what it is.

I agree with you 100%. I have faced such things in life and I can totally relate.
More than that I think self-image works the same way.

Thank you for the reminder @deppo

I agree with most of what you said, except for the dispute resolution part.
On a recent example, a user that have been around for a long time was accused of scamming (even though the evidence showed otherwise), but acted in such a professional manner that made me really consider him for an upcoming project. The accuser, on the other hans, acted like a child and in a very toxic way and I'll avoid doing business with him as much as I can.

Indeed, you may be right, but personally I do not have the time to go through every detail on a dispute thread nor do I care honestly. I just see the title, peruse it for a few seconds and that's about it. The same way that in real life noone on social media cares about the details rather than the juicy gossip. Again, not fair but this is the reality.

I do disagree to a degree
If your influence is deep enough (in the real world at the very least), you will get away with things.
But luckily, that doesn't exist in BHW, the dispute resolution section is proof of it, rules applies to all, includes "high ranking members" & staff members

How dare you disagree with me publically?!

But seriously, I try to give people the benefit of the doubt. By the way the accused and accuser acted, I sided with the accused and by the like count of their posts there, so did other members.

But you also seen all the post says
"I got scammed by another Jr VIP"
"I thought Jr VIPs are legit" etc
Doesn't mean they will get away with it but influence does matter

Another example
Ran into many threads where I see
"I have to respect you because you are an "Jr Exec/Exec"...
like seriously? no you do not. You respect them for them, not because of their titles.

I think I was misunderstood.
I was talking about a single instance where a reputable seller acted like a pro while being SLed. In 99% of the cases they act like idiots and you're 100% right.

Understanding those who looks at rank and decides to trust/respect members based on it alone is beyond my capabilities.

In most cases I have seen People getting banned. Late but they do sure get banned.

In IRL - yes it matters. I don't talk to people who I think are just mean to others and are just egoistic etc.

Completely agree, although reputation can be manipulated to a degree just by relying on the human need to gossip. Having a good reputation has saved me a couple of times IRL.

Yes, by in large you must be self sufficient to bypass all this bs.
Learning permaculture is one way, also makes good money (growing food is like growing money) as with permaculture you don't usually use fertilizer like...ever, the plants used fertilize the plants making food.
water collection is easy as well.
solar is sort of a last ditch, there are better ways to get near limitless power and people at a store won't refuse to do business with you, most wont even know who you are.

The last trick is being your own boss, and being so good at what you do with automation that all the bad hype in the world means nothing more then free advertising.

I think that BHW has done enough in terms of protection, of course, there is always something new that can be improved and added and I believe that it will be added in the future, but what I notice with the WTB and HAF sections is the following...

A lot of members who are not overly active come, and on the other hand, we have like 50 Jr VIPs who answer every request!

What I would do, and I wanted to do it and was soooo close a couple of times to jump into their DM and ask, how?

1 person responds to requests:

  • I need a .IT domain
  • I need a .NO domain
  • I need someone from Texas
  • I need someone from Japan
  • Gambling links
  • PBNs
  • Looking for an SEO mentor...
  • And another 100 totally different requests and there are a couple of people who respond to all of them.

I would just jump into their DM one day and say, explain, how you could help "this and that member" with "this request".

I like to see when other members are heard and raise their voices for some change, especially when it comes to protection, unfortunately, some things we cannot change, no matter how much we want to.

Like the invasion of new profiles in the last week or so, but they were followed and will be sanctioned in time, as well as anyone who crosses the border.

Yesterday I caught a guy shamelessly selling BHW profiles on another forum, with the same username, the same TG, the same WhatsApp, the same Skype... As I said, we can't change some things, but certainly, we can do something else together ;)

Depends. People like Logan Paul who scammed thousands barely scratched him.
