Your Profile Links Are Crap/Suck/Dumb...

Is there anything more unnatural then making a lot of forum profile backlinks that have keywords as anchor text AND your post counts are all ZERO in the forums? Seriously.

Maybe I'm the only one who thinks this. Who first thought that was a brilliant idea?

I admit I have paid for these types of links in the past. I now think it's literally retarded. I honestly feel like a retard for thinking they might be a good idea. I'm not debating if they work at all in any tier. I'm just thinking about the logic behind them.

My strategy now is to only make profile links that either have naked, brand name, or url anchor text AND for most of the forums I have to make posts once in awhile even if the posts suck AKA probably the ONLY natural profile backlinks that make sense.

Does anyone else agree with me or have a similar strategy?

Yea, doesn't make sense. What is worse, is that you can take a 10 year old domain with "trust" and spam it with profile links and it will rank immediately. It shouldn't work, but it does.

Every one think aged domain can be spammed and build whatever link u want without doing any harm to it but the fact is after Penguin my 12 years aged domain has been hit and now Im on page 40+

Have you tried this lately? Because profile links haven't worked for me in quite a while, although i do make an occasional link from them as well just to diversify further..

My tactic with profile back-links is to make a certain posts on that forum.
Not to spam directly 1000 of forums in one, but 5 to 10 a day create a post of five max and your account looks a lot less spamy

Actually if you mix up a few bio details and highlight the links as your favorite sites, it would look more natural.

I made this post mostly about their long term effect and how to use smartly for white/grey hat seo. I have a feeling these links will be worth less and less over time in the eyes of Google (or they'll penalize you).

Um what? You think thatGoogle looks at a forum profile for the number of posts? That's crazy talk mate.

You are right though that generally speaking these are garbage links so I don't recommend them to any one.

I mean its an OK tier 2 and 3 links, but thats about it.

I fully agree. I think everyone should stop using any flavor of forum profile linking. I will continue to use them and reap the benefits of an easier arena for my clients. Low value or not Google cant tell the difference of they are real or not. Devalued? So what, this is how I viewed them in the first place and they are like Doritos "We'll make more". It is also a much better diversity in my SEO plan. I dont look for the silver bullet to rank my sites. I look for good diverse and flexible methodology and technique.

Do I think Google can tell how many posts a member has in a public forum? Yes easily. Are they using it in their algorithms? They probably will eventually if they aren't already.

I agree it really can't be that hard for them to incorporate this into their algorithm, if you think google is a large monster that is rigid and inflexible then you are wrong.

According to my experience Profile Links are good but only for diversifying your backlink profile. I use them along with other link types but not more then 30-50 Profile links per campaign. Also dont forget to target at least 40% profiles with generic keywords and naked URLs. One of the member above mentioned that mixing of bio details will be good in case of profile links, I agree with him, Whenever you make profile links always fill bio, location etc as well as spinning of username. BTW in seo, it depends upon your way of using the particular link resource.
