Your Own Link Shortening Service for Getting Backlinks

I was wondering if starting my own link shortening service on my website will help me in getting quality backlinks.For example if the website is getting a decent amount of traffic, users will be encouraged to shrink their URL's on my website because they visit it more often than bitly or adfly, and by sharing the link (http://www.mydomain.com/z1S1GP) with their friends/blogs I gain more backlinks to my website.


What do you all think?

yeah I mean let my visitors help me with backlinking as well, its a tough job for one man nomsayn, I have found a PHP script that will allow me to run my own URL shortening service its called YOURLS, but am surprised why isn't everyone here doing this?
