What about it?
Happiness, horror stories; what have you?
sloooooooooooooooow and downtime
A couple years ago I tried it a few time as an affiliate and I was not impressed. I visited it again recently and not much change IMO. Everytime I login I have a feeling of non professionalism. The marketplace is full of real junk products of resell type products + many links are dead.
As a vendor I much prefer Clickbank and would never touch PayDotcom.
I have had no success with selling my product thru them. I get most of my sales by word of mouth and PPC
OK, here is the REAL DEAL!
I have been asked by a manufacturer of a physical product how best to market this item.
The product is an ideal product to be marketed via commerical email but we know what road that takes us down and where we end up, so that is pretty much off the table except fr double-opt-in lists.
Without getting too specific as I have promised not to, I can say that the item may be sold for $30-$60 USD and that a hefty affiliate commission will come out of that; around 30-40%.
eBay is definitely in the picture but we all know what is going on there and the place has become a pain in the ass.
Now....my end will be taken care of as I may become involved in the production aspects so we don't need to worry about me; I'll be plenty happy!
The product is timely, effective and money saving with only a relatively small up-front cost.
Do you think that it would be best to market this product through an already established company like Paydot or something similar or set up our own affiliate program?
If the latter, then we get to how to market the affiliate program!
There are some numbers for projected sales but like all such projections are S.W.A.G.: "Scientific Wild Assed Guesses"; anyway, the product WILL sell for sure, so I'm not worried there.
There are several online payment options already available, so no sweat there also.
Sales of the item would be primarily in the USA, Canada and Mexico as shhipping costs get wild elsewhere but there are really no restrictions on marketplace.
The people who have developed the product are realy great people and I am looking forward to working with them.
Your advice will be greatly appreciated.
PayDotCom is a poor service; I regret ever working with them.
Can you go deeply a little bit ?
The only thing I dont like on them Is that I have to pay a fee even the customer is not coming from a PDC affiliate
You (your client) should consider either in-house affiliate system or if they don't want that they should then consider third party (not CJ unless your client is willing to invest big $) affiliate network.
Take a look at
Agreed although you should definitely try to get into CJ and sign up with several companies if you can, not just them. If the product ever gets to be extremely popular than you do your own in-house affiliate program. The reason for signing up with these companies isn't only for the tracking it's also because you get exposure with tons of affiliates.
How about alternatives to CJ as I think my guy may have had issues in the past like a bankruptcy 5-6 years ago which will still show on his credit record and I rather doubt that he will pass the CJ credit check even though the proceeding has been discharged. This was a medical thing but it makes no difference; it' still going to show up.
How rigid is CJ really on that stuff, do you know?
I have been a member at PayDotCom for a little while now. It is a very poorly made site. It was started by a guy who was successful at selling eBooks and thought he would like to make his own ClickBank and take a cut out of all the sales from others. The site feels like he went on Scriptlance and had someone clone Clickbank for like $500 in a week.
Exactly a clickbank clone because Clickbank itself looks terrible IMO
It was started by mike filsaime and he?s flamed deeply in the marketing industry but at the same time respected, I agree the site is poor. Clickbank is its own original script and pretty good for being that, paydotcom is poor for trying to directly mimic that without care or cautious, but enough of eye-candy, it still sucks because the services are very slow.
Found this old thread. Just curious if anything ever happened with it? What did your client decide? Was your project successful?
Few years ago, I promoted the link directory submitter software which used to accept money by paydotcom. I made some of my friends buy the software through my affiliate link. I was shocked to know that the commissions did not show up in my account. I complained to the website owner of the directory submitter software giving him all the details and finally received my commissions. But I lost faith in the system as it was not able to track the affiliate commissions properly.
If having bad experiences with existing third party affiliate agencies, then it's really wise to consider having your own affiliate program in-house. It's no rocket-science and can be easily monitored/managed if one's willing to do this little bit extra effort. Rest is almost automatic.
Maybe there are some nulled affiliate scripts available on BHW.
Payment of commission to affiliates can be done through Paypal or other means suitable.
Todate, I have no major problems with Paypal or Clickbank or Paydotcom except for some minor issues. However, I am not using Paydotcom as much as before.
2checkout is another option. However, heard from another IM marketer of one incident some time back that a genuine customer was going through the ordering process on 2checkout secured site and somehow, when he clicked on the 'Pay" button, as claimed, the charges somehow failed to process but the customer was directed to the download site where he was able to download the products without knowing the failed payment.
This was the reason I decided not to include 2checkout as one of my payment gateway.
Maybe nowadays,their system is ok.
Then there are Payalert and so on. Paypal has an office in my country now which also encourages me to continue using their services cos I can liaise with them personally whenever the needs arise.
Hope this information is useful.
Good luck and best wishes!
