In 2012 i blast my site with directory submitter and accidently i got #1 position from top #18 but after few week my site got dropped and never come back in Top 20

1) Buying an expired domain and building a website that is in a different niche than the domain's original one. That caused a loss of 6 months and tons of quality content.
2) Pointing all the backlinks to inner pages.
3) Underestimating keyword research. The right picked-up keyword is already 70% success.

biggest SEO mistakes is done wrongly citation for my one of Google my business that caused my keyword got ranked for different URL but I recovered it soon by mapping it on correct URL.

How can programming help in SEO ?
Had a site built out, excellent content, perfect on page, then ordered ' guest posts' from someone to find they were utter shit, nothing more than PBNs, shared IPs, same registrars etc etc etc for 99% of the order and the only other site was a link farm.
