Your Amazon Experience with "Discount" Banners?

Hey roomies

I'm promoting Amazon items on ones of my sites and was likely going to expand on using Amazon...

As it applies to "widgets" and or "deals" I currently use Rotating Banners
with "best deals" from a particular category, in this case women's and men's
gym wear.....

Can I ask if you have had any success with these banners, and if NOT
what banners do you feel you have more success with?

My niche is the gym in general, with these pages the focus is clothing
I'm not trying to appeal to "high end" but more of a discount crowd

hi, I make most of my living on Amazon every month. I have never had much luck with banners in any niche. I tested everything, including the fancy carousel type, etc.

Text links and direct linking the product image to the product page on amazon is the best way to convert by far.

So you believe a very targeted approach is best?
and one specifically that touts a certain "product"
and that links to that "product" as well?

you mean for example "russell's womens athletic gym shorts"

your info and text link were specific to that product and
landed on that products page?
How much content for that product did you find it required to get
visitors to checkout your link? If I may ask

I recently read that the picture, direct link is the best way. Most Carousels and other fancy slides stuff loads slow and pisses consumers off.
Don't try to hide the fact that your selling this, put a nice link out to tell them what to do. People need to be guided..

I agree totally with the use of text links. I believe they look less like advertising and more like information. The widgets they give you perform for me at about 10-20% of text links.
