not talking about diversity links.

Own private PBN? Or buying/renting someone's PBN?

Guest posts? Niche edits?

Or maybe tons of expired Web2.0s?
Sape?

#1: guest posts on same niche sites with traffic.
These seems to be the best links (imho) at the moment.

Working with Niche edits. Not only do you get SEO value, There are good chances of getting referral traffic that converts when pages with good traffic are targeted for link placement.

Mosttimes , there is no point building tier links to supplement your outreach. Aged pages have Ref Dom's(Links) to em already

Other preferred approach is Guest Posting but getting more expensive and minimal consistent free Referral traffic.

"The propensity of a link being clicked makes a link more powerful." So my favorite backlink type is any backlink that also gets and drives traffic.

It does not matter that much.
But to me, niche edit is somehow suspicious, whereas a new post is perfectly natural.
So I prefer guest posts, then PBNs, then niche edits.
These are my thoughts when it comes to niche edits. I mean, it´s weird how Google hasn´t run any updates to address these as they surely look suspicious and very un-natural.

Unless we´re not talking about developing a long-term business but regardless I prefer the good old guest post with newly published content over niche edits. I get the feeling they won´t last long.

Web 2.0s. Cheap(free), easy to handle.

Paid: Guest posts

Every approach to Link building grey/blackhat could be computed. Guest Posting is Grey/Blackhat approach of building links, Matt speaks often against it but that doesn't stop webmasters from outreaching and getting links through that process.

Niche edit the other way round is still one of the best ways to acquire links that sounds and look natural if done right.

Take for example ;

I found a page of my website ranking for LT keywords I'm not quite targeting. I take that as an opportunity to target those keywords by writing more contentsa,updating the oldcold on the page.

Updating your website content with more information is what Google likes (more the merrier).
Google wants you link to external sources (resourceful page). Writing more content I can decide to outbound to page I found resourceful.

It would make no sense targeting a page that's not closely related to your niche.

Moreover, I found a prefferd approach since ;

1. It gives optimal results when done right (Everyone is after results)

2. Referral traffic to your target website.

3. Most aged pages have Ref domains linked , you most likely won't need Tier links boost the page authority.

Not all websites accept Niche edits which makes guest posting a major alternative.

I like real down and dirty stinky links. Sticky as shit that stay up long time.
