You guys still have websites that ranks high or no.1 with only 3-4 pages?I'm talking about micro-niches here...

I got one site with one article number two on the first page :P adult related to :P

Yep, most of my sites are 5-6 pages max (with 3 on average) and I have many on the top. It is getting harder though...

What do you mean by "It's getting harder"

I got two pages demoted from top of the page 1 to nowhere (health niche) and the new sites that I try to push up are not moving as easily as even a month ago.

Yup, got a few. They didn't move at all after Panda.

I have 4-5 sites with few post and all of them are drop in SERPs, from 1st page to 10th ;(

I think it depends on the content as much as the quantity.

Let's say I have a site called BlueWidgetReview dot com. If I have 4 or 5 articles which successful review the blue widget, I'm A-okay by Google. I won't get badly penalized. I will only have to write more articles about the blue widget if my competition has more of the same content that answers this query (Google won't penalize me in isolation, if you see what I mean.)

I find that it boils down to ensuring that you ANSWER the question denoted by the website. If you do it successfully then the number of articles is determined by competing sites who are doing the same thing as you.

Saying all that, I try to add lots of content. I can whip up a Panda-loving article in about 10 mins. But I never just add fluff, padding. I always try to answer the question of my site.

i have one site that i put up about 3 months ago that only has 3 articles on it and each of the articles are ranked in the top 5 spots for the terms they were going after.

I have only done a small link blast on each article.

Not just ranking, beating the competition that has more articles & age for the same EMD.

You could easily get a one page site ranking #1 for many different niches. It's not so much about the number of pages. That matters more so when it's just crappy content, and you're trying to make a quickly put together site look like a good one.

All you need is quality content!

FACT!

I have over 100+ ranking first spot with only a couple of articles each but.... my articles are 1500+ words pictures + videos...

First page = Panda update = Quality content

No need to say anymore.

Yes, quite a few, all unique content.

I noticed the ones that I have stopped building links, dropped to -50.

I think link velocity is what really matters.

I've got some, yeah. It hasn't been a problem for me at all.

Panda has really hit many micro niche sites. Anyhow getting to page 1 with few pages and articles is achievable but staying there with no effort is quite difficult.

most have dropped for me, but I made one few weeks ago and it ranks 2-3 for few keywords and making some cash.
