You Heard It Here First: Facebook Is Finished

I doubt they'll lose so many, people generally grumble for a bit, get used to it and carry on. That's the way it's always been - most don't really have a clue about computing in depth, nor do many particularly care/ know about privacy settings. FB seems to be so prominent having managed to get even the older generations involved that it's success will hardly falter even if it should lost so many members. Many have already voluntarily embraced the timeline change anyway. So, call me a sceptic but I'm doubtful.

i think so too.
Since people started posting more youtube links than private statuses, and since there are more and more company profiles, facebook lost the one thing that made it successful and that is friendly socializing.
It is worn out, it is commercialized, most of the time it is plain boring.
The time is coming for something new.

It happened to MySpace... there is always going to be the new great thing...
Question is, can you put it together?!

Nobody knows, if you're that certain short their stock price when the IPO happens and bet your life savings and your parent's life savings on it and you'll be a very rich man/woman. If you're not a FB insider, tbh, you're a gambler. Although it's fun to make a guess and stick your neck out, me personally with regards to FB, I really couldn't call it, I can see the value in Timeline, people hate change but once they get used to something, a thing like timeline over the long term will be impossible(almost) to discard in terms of it's value. There's literally nothing else available that people on the whole are already involved in that documents a persons life like FB timeline does. The only question is whether enough people will adopt timeline and use it for a period of time that is long enough to let joe public realise the "necessity" of timeline. It's disturbingly intrusive but incredibly well thought out and meaningful, tbh the last 3 years of my life are pretty well landmarked by timeline as I got early access to timeline being a developer and already I see the benefits and memories it has brought back and that's just a few years. Imagine if from this moment on you pretty much recorded all your status updates, songs, photos, videos and general musings and looked back in 40 years at it all. Incredible, I'd be hard pushed to write FB off just yet, if they pull this off, they've got themselves a place in history on a par with the fucking Romans or even the Loch Ness Motherfucking Monster son.

I didn't read.

I deleted mine, I'm not documenting my life on some fucking massive melon heads' website I have never met Mr Kluckerberg, but he seems to be a right cunt. Facebook is full of twats or internet virgins to get their feet wet.

Well, facebook already made it's peak of success within past few years already. I dont think there is anything bad feedback about the timeline stuff but me myself got pissed of with the ticker thing on the news feed. It's like annoying. Well if there is another social network that looks like tumblr and I will go for it and leave facebook!

That's why you have, like, element hiding helper and stuff, so you can, like, hide it.

But the problem with other social media sites tends to be that their only purpose to exist is "not to be Facebook". How far you think you can go with that?

I deleted their iphone app first drove me nuts, posting random images, posting the wrong images, having half the screen taken up by 'do you know this person Zinhg Zhao the III'rd. No I do not, remove that crap from my 3" screen. After that and some more issues nuked the main account haha. Their web app is shit really, clunky and buggy

I really hope it will fall, I can't stand neither Facebook nor its creator. How can something so hollow and devoid of substance be so popular is astounding.

it was great idea at first, but now it is popular only because people got used to it and it's using it's first momentum.

But regarding timeline.
There's nothing more heart filling than to read all the letters from past lovers written in their own handwriting, enriched with their own sweet scent.
Or the messages written at the back of photography.
No timeline can replace that and I pity the new generations cause they'll never feel it.
Some things just get ruined with so much digitalization.

Allow me to end this fight with some stats about FB.

Fb will stay the biggest/best social network until there is a good enough alternative, an alternative for everyone.

look at G+, sure its good, but i think i have one girl in a circle, where are all the women at? Oh i know, on Facebook

Lol you do not read the news much do you?

90% of all users are complaining and saying they are going to leave facebook because of this.

Just because a few of your friends comply by whatever facebook gives them does not speak for the majority.

So yawn yourself.

90%.....Really?

Every time Facebook changes, the moaning begins, people say they hate it, won't use it again, start a petition etc..

But you know what? in about a week or two no body will care, people adapt & they learn to love it..

Most people hate change, they like their creature comforts & the timeline is good for the average user BUT not for the people who use or make money from pages lmao

So really what you should be saying is "90% of people who use Facebook for IM will leave!"

Although they won't either, because the people are still there....it just makes the job harder

As for Google+.. at the moment it's a poor consolation, you don't even have the ability to give your page a 'name/URL' (Last time i checked)...

without this it will always be a fail.. Especially for IM..

The reason they haven't taken over facebook is because they tried to be too 'different' in the beginning....but even they are now starting to realise & change, anyone notice how google+ wall is VERY similar to timeline now?

uhhh FB...nothing to worry...BHW is still here and keep on dominating upto 30th century!ahahahahaha:D

Can't say about FB prediction. Personally i dont like timeline , but at the same time i like WP Timeline theme that FB has banned and I can't use.

I never really understood FB anyway. Call me old school but why in the world would you want to put yourself out there like that? And no, I have nothing to hide but it's just silly if you ask me.
Is anyone really amazed that tons of people were getting virus infections from a site with 800 million users worldwide that not only allows but promotes the ability to log into it from literally thousands of apps?

Yes, I'm a child of the 70's. We actually talked to our friends face to face, hell we even wrote the occasional letter. Call me a dinosaur but instead of walking down the street with our faces buried in our IPhones, we actually from time to time had meaningful interactions with those around us instead of the absolute meaningless tripe that passes for communication nowadays.

Whew... *Rant Off-

Facebook will become a "myspace" eventually, in terms of what happened with their popularity. All social networking sites are trends. Let's just hope we don't get all of the stupid people from facebook coming onto twitter. ^^
