Yoast - Stop words NOT being removed from Permalinks

I have the latest version of Wordpress and the Yoast plugin installed for a new site. I have the "Remove stop words from slugs" option checked in Yoast's Permalnk settings.

However, whenever I create a new post with stop words (e.g. 'and', 'the', etc) and click Publish, these words are still part of the post's URL. Is anyone else facing this issue? Or could my theme be conflicting with Yoast and preventing this feature?

It could be anything bro - theme, plugins, hosting software... Maybe file a bug report with Yoast and co? They'll look through your debug file and patch it for the next version.

Somethings, Themes don't allow plugins to change SEO settings, you should check your theme, mostly premium themes.

You should switch off their settings, before YOAST can function.

I had already disabled my premium theme's SEO settings, but to no avail. I think I'll just use a separate plugin for permalink stop-word removal, because apart from this particular feature, Yoast seems to be working.

isn't that what wordpress does automatically anyways?

I just checked and it is not removing my stop words either... dammit
