I've had great luck with RANK MATH

Here's the monthly traffic evolution of one of my RANKMATH blogs

Quick recap:
Use your main keyword in the following

1. Your title
2. Your post url
3. The first paragraph or sentence of your post
4. The front of your metadescription (make sure to follow this though)
5. The alt tag of your featured image
6. Somewhere in the description of your image
7. Make sure you have at least 3 outbound links to authority (NON COMPETITIVE) sites
8. Interlink to make a 'hub' around your keyword cluster

1 to 5 and 7 will boost your RankMath score but at the end of the day, it's all about LOCKING DOWN SEARCH INTENT

Seoframework and All in One SEO are pretty good plugins for adding tags and meta-tags on individual pages, but if you aim to have more control and work on more features then Rankmath would definitely be the best possible choice and many people nowadays choose exactly this plugin for their SEO work.
