Yoast Questions

When blogging how much attention do you pay to all the yoast things?

I had articles I thought were pretty good but after running it through yoast the readability was moderate and could be improved it said. When I got it to green readability, the post just looked and read very robotic and boring, like it didn't seem like something I'd want to read so I doubt my readers would want to read it. Do you even care to check this about yoast?

I can see how the SEO thing is useful with keywords and the headers and such. I'll give it that.

But then there is the cornerstone article check box I really dont get, like because of that magic little tickbox google indexes it higher? I doubt it.

Wouldnt every article be cornerstone content?

I prefer to read my articles out loud, as if I were speaking to a crowd. This will help you determine if sentences are too long, or if words are used too often, or if words are too complicated. Use enunciation, and actually pause, during periods.

I use a combo of yeost, and hemingwayapp

I have never been a fan of the plugin. I would rather use ALL in One SEO for my plugin.

hemingwayapp is a plugin or what?

If you've installed Yoast, you will need to activate the advanced settings as that would provide you higher usage flexibility in using the tool. Also, you can manually set every pages' meta information, which may be useful for some, and there's also a keyword field which requires the paid version to be activated. I think Yoast would enable you to set an appropriate description for every pages, or it will automatically grab the first paragraph of your content to be included into the page's meta-description, which is useful for lazy people like me.

I always skip the readability. I try to get things to the orange level, I'm fine if it's not green. I love yoast because it tells me if my keyword density is good enough.

Hemingwayapp is something that checks the difficulty of your text. Some of the stuff I tell it to fuck off with, because I know it's golden. But it's good for pointing out "potential issues," as each gets a highlighted color to look at.

Honestly, the apps are just algorithms, so they're just used to get it "close," but in my opinion, reading it out loud as if you were addressing a crowd of people, is the best way to determine if your sentence is too long, just like this one, with so many commas and extensions of the sentence, not allowing it to end until you realize that you're already a paragraph and a half long, but you keep putting commas in, because you're pausing but not stopping, because you cant stop, you just pause. There! Period! See what I mean?

Same here. I am not a big seo guy. But never liked and using all in one seo.,
