Yoast description not showing in SERP

Hi,

I have tried finding the answer first before posting but can't find anything.

The descriptions I've entered in my Yoast snippet settings aren't showing for my posts in Google when I search for them. It instead displays the first sentence of the post's content.

Any ideas?

Have you checked the meta description directly in the HTML of the resulting page? Is it there?

Google uses what it wants for the description in the end, it may be thinking your meta is not relevant enough for the query. Maybe try to change the wording a bit.

Yeah the meta is in he source code.

So how can I make it more relevant? It contains the keyword and the subject it's about in there.

Is it unique? Descriptions need to be original, and unique to the page to display. If multiple pages have too similar of descriptions it won't show up in my experience.

What PlofAtayuga said: Google doesn't like your description. Happens all the time with my clients, like, more than it should. I honestly think the end game for Google is to generate titles, descriptions, and schema all automatically.

Anyways change it, wait, test, repeat.

As mentioned Google will extract content from the page and use that as the meta description if it feels like it. All you can do is write a relevant description with a good CTA, some keyword variations will trigger it, some won't.
