I've been messing with Yoast over the last two or three days and noticed something a little strange while optimizing everything for my website; I can't find a way to implement the `rel=author` meta regardless of where I go. Yoast has a Social section in their plugin which allows you to link a Google+ publisher account, which puts a `rel=publisher` meta on every page/post of your website.

As per a quote from google, rel=publisher should only be posted on your most important page(Typically home page), while rel=author should be posted on your content pages.

The common argument:
Implementation of rel=publisher should only take place on the HOME page of a site. It?s important to note that rel=author and rel=publisher will not function correctly if placed on exactly the same page. A good rule of thumb is that the rel=author markup is for content pages only, and rel=publisher is verification for your site as a whole (not needed on individual content).

I'm curious as to if this is expected behaviour, and if over the last year rel=publisher has pretty much taken over the rel=author meta, or what's the deal?

Thanks in advance!

I have Yoast installed and we don't have this problem. Are you sure that there aren't any setting for this, which you might have messed up? Thank you.

I am using Yoast plugin from the past few years it's working fine on my websites!!

Put simply, the rel=author markup, when correctly used, is a way to connect, reciprocate, and verify authorship on content pieces, based on a linked Google+ account. The rel=author command will also help to identify and reward original content creators on the SERP if their content is scraped, re-shared, or linked to
