I always enjoy reading journals, although it seems they're notorious for people giving up after a few days..

So I've been reading up a good bit on this the past few days, and my ideas are pretty straightforward:
-Find CB programs to promote
-Do keyword research in finding what I can reasonably be able to rank for in google
-Article Marketing
-Lots of SEO!

My goal is rather than going for the one big fish, go after 50 small ones. The thought is dominating a relatively small term (even if it only gives me 1 sale a month for $20) might be more reasonable than trying to play with the big dogs who can dominate those more competetive keywords. I could totally be off but that's my thought on it anyways. :D

I won't be spamming the forum with new posts every time I get anywhere, so I'm gonna try to update it every few days or so. Any questions or anything about my methods I'd be glad to share (so long as its not pertaining to the niches I'm targeting).

Goals for this week:
-Set up 5 websites, wordpress, and post articles on each
-Get indexed
-Start link building slowly.

Overall goal:
Steady $5,000 a month. Looks like a nice number, though I know it'll take me a few months to get there.

Wish me luck.

There is a ton of work involved, but if you can stick with it you will make a lot of $$$.

Good LUck!

Best of luck. Micro-niches are much easier to do. Once you get the hang out it you'll be able to spit out sites and content within a couple days start to finish, and than just leave that site to be fully automated income.

Just keep at it.

Thanks for all the encouraging words :D
A couple days is on the high end for me, I'm trying to get them done quicker, so far it's been ~1 hour keyword research (max), 10 mins domain name purchase / wp setup / theme.
I'm having the articles written by a friend who's giving me really good rates on custom article writing, so that part is automated.
The SEO / link building I do as I have the time, over time.

End of day 1.

Think things went pretty well. I have 3 websites set up (one .info, one .com, and one .net). Each site includes the keywords I'm aiming for. None have too much competition so I should be able to rank well easily.

My biggest question here is what do I want the user to see when they reach my page?
Should I put up a "review" page for each product?
Right now I'm just putting up a post about said service or product (Unique, keyword rich, 300-600 words), including the logo image above the post to link to the website and several times the keywords linking to it in the post.
If someone wants to take a look I'd be glad to show them (PM me), I would appreciate some input.

In addition to this I've submitted articles to ezine and several others for 1 of the sites, and will be doing the others tomorrow, as well as linkbuilding.

I think I'm going to focus on getting 10 keyword, content rich sites up by early next week, and then spend a week linkbuilding / doing other work on it. Then build another 10, and repeat.

Like I said, any input, suggestions, or constructive criticism is more than welcome.

Good luck on your journey ljay13. The best thing you can do is not to quit. You will stumble and fall more times than you succeed. That is guaranteed. Remember that history is filled with individuals who failed more times than they succeeded yet we remember these figures for there success. George Washington lost more battles than he won, Abraham Lincoln lost more elections than he won, and Thomas Edison found 10,000 ways NOT to make a light bulb. To many of these journals start out positive and people give up after sometimes a single failure. You can't fail at what you do if you never quit.

Good luck buddy.

With encouraging words like these how could I ever quit?

I think I'm gonna call it early today since I did a good bit of work throughout the day (and was up till 3 working on it last morning).

Got some really good info from Drax (Thanks again!) so I actually went through and changed a lot of what I did. I added some new plugins for all my sites (through WP), including SEO addons.

I'm going to be changing my strategy a lot, instead of putting up 1-2 posts , quick link building, and moving on, I'm gonna be (re)writing about 10~ posts per site with my keywords on those pages linking to eachother, but mainly linking to my "Review of article X" page (which in turn obviously links to. I'm not sure this is the best way to do it and still looking for hints and tips on how to go about best pushing the campaign.

Also changing my links with .htaccess redirect to not link directly to CB.
e.g. Redirect 301 /stuff http://www.mycblink.com
So that on my review page I just link to /stuff for example.

Stats for the day:
3 Websites / microniches up. Total of 6 unique posts.
Tomorrow I'm going to focus on the second & third website, as so far I've been mainly working on my initial one.
Still looking at ways to get a decent number of backlinks for SEO.
Any ideas?

*EDIT*
I wrote another article for today.
Decided the best idea is for me to have my "sales pitch" for the product I'm advertising on the top / first part of every blog post. This way regardless of where they come to my site from / which page they're going to, they see the sales pitch.

And finally (and probably most importantly) I'm going to be buying SEnuke. Heard lots of good things about it, so it should help, right?

You might be well served using Dragon to "write" your articles. I market almost exclusively via articles and up until recently wrote all of them (I have over 1400 on ezine alone) and now I can pound out articles like a freaking nail gun.

I went from 11 - 15 articles a day to over 30 a day and in less time.

You use ezine to market your websites or the products directly? And damn, either way with that number I'm sure you must be making some good bank. :D

Todays progress:
Checked out SENuke. Im gonna have to do a lot more reading and such - if someone can explain how the article marketing part of it works I'd be forever grateful -. I think if I can get the hang of it the $127 / month plan looks like what I'll need. If anyone reading this wants to make it worth my while, I'll be glad to sign up under you.

Biggest thing today:
HOLY SHIT!
http://www.blackhatworld.com/blackh...aving-difficulties-get-your-site-indexed.html

I can't fucking believe it.. I've used Fantastico to set up all these sites, no wonder none have been indexed.

Tomorrow I plan on writing 5-10 more articles and working on the 2 other sites. Then, one day later than planned, start link building!

I point to my sites and pitch them for clickbank, cj and amazon products. I'm also a premium publisher so I choose when the articles go live. That's a huge benefit along with the volume.

Ah cool.
I'm really hoping my sites get indexed soon, now that I've chosen the "set them public" option. If not I'll just forget about it and start over with a few more.
Either way writing some more articles today and starting the backlink building.

Little update today:

Did a little linkbuilding, but on the main site I'm gonna wait until I get indexed. still bummed about what I read yesterday.
I did however set up another site and put up a few custom articles. I think it's quite targeted and can rank up with relative ease..

Good luck man. I'm going to work on CB snipers in a while still focused on another style of making money online but I'll be back to check your post ;)

First, I wish you the best of luck and hope that this journal will not be a dead end road like so many others here.

Second, since you want to focus only on very low competitive keywords, I would strongly suggest to modify your profit goal to say $1,000 or so. This goal will be achieved way sooner than $5,000 and you can celebrate your first victory much faster.

Once achieved, you adjust your income goal to higher numbers, until you've reached the final number ($5,000).

Again, good luck!

Hey,
Thanks for the advice :) I've been living off the net for the past 5 years or so, even with numbers bigger than 5k / month. I can keep myself motivated, but I think I need a number that big to keep be focused and not take every sale as an accomplishment and reason to slack off :p

Ok, then go for it :)

So were you up on wordpress before you started this project? I'm just wondering how you got comfortable with it, if there's some tut or guide that you prefer. I can code like a m-fer but so far wp has been a real pain in my butt, I can't seem to get traction

I've been using WP for years now (and the ease of fantastico install = extra thumbs up). I don't think I've ever used an a tutorial for any of it.
If there's anything you need with WP i'ma send you a PM and see if I can help you with it.

Biggest problem at the moment - getting a site indexed. Still working on new articles.
My goal is to have 5 sites, each with 5-10 unique articles up by the end of the week.

Finally a worthwhile update to post!

I hadn't posted until now because the sites hadn't been indexed (see a few posts above). Finally the sites are indexed and ranking somewhat for some of the terms. Well, at least 1/2 of the sites are indexed.
Seeing a little bit of traffic coming to the sites as well, so I'm happy it's some progress. Now that I know they'll eventually get indexed I'm moving to more sites and more articles, but starting with heavy link building. I've found a few good keywords I want to rank for and gonna work on hitting the first few pages within a month on those 2 already indexed sites now!
