About 5 months ago, i hoped on to elance.com to hire someone for a project. I needed someone to make a clone of some trading site. I got a few bids, and being stupid and all, i picked the cheapest one. I checked that he had done some other work but didn't notice that he handn't received any feedback for it.

The guy contacted me, took all the details, made me a customer account etc. and kept me updated on the project for a week or two. When we reached the deadline, he kept pushing it back further and further. I got pissed off and after about 1 week past the deadline, i asked for a refund. HE said it was on its way etc. and then proceeded to ignore my messages.

He hasn't sent me anything for the last few months. HIs identiy and paypal is protected by elance, so i can't file a claim and he registed his domain with DomainsByProxy so that was useles..

Until i found DomainTools.com

Brilliant site. Ran a few checks and managed to find out all his info. I sent him this message:

Justin,

After doing loads of digging, i've managed to find out who you are. If you don't reply to this email within the next 24 hours, i WILL be taking legal action against you.

He replied within minutes!

Sorry, i've been away. Provide me with an address to mail a money order to and I will be more than happy to send it, as I do nt use PayPal.

Something is clearly dodgy. Why would he want my address? Any ideas...

I've just told him i only take paypal.

Well they send money orders to your house then you go check it at the bank.

Do you have google checkout or a merchant account?

If not, I'd just toss your address down there and wait for the order.

ask him to wire a money order through walmart or moneybox.... if hes adament about mailing it to an address and you dont want to give it to him... get a temporary mailbox from your post office or get it delivered with your name on it but with your immediate next door neighbors address on it, if your mailman is assertive or you on good terms with your neighbor you will probably still get the letter! LOL

Haha, that is pretty crafty dude.

Just make sure you have a good relationship with your neighbor just in case the mailman doesn't catch it.

yeh, that neighbour will be suprised when the guy sends the boys round, lol

actually it was something that happened to me that made me think of it...

i had ordered some systems discs for my desktop that died on me a few months ago and needed to get the system up and running pronto as i was in the middle of getting a project out so i even paid for overnight shipping before 9am to get the cds...

anyway the day of the delivery nothing, man i was pissed... i kept calling the comp company trying to get a tracking number then the delivery service, nothing.. pretty much wasted the day on the phone trying to track down the damn cds, i was getting more and frustrated and pissed off with the delivery company and at myself for not backing everything up properly...

anyway come 8pm a little old lady came knocking on my door, she was from down the street and was like yeah here you go i got this at 7am this morning but didnt have the energy to walk over here and deliver it.... she handed me the DVD's! LOL

you wont believe the amount of mixed emotions i had! LOL i wanted to scream frustrations at her and kick her down the stairs!!! LMAO but was also just relieved to have them in my hand i felt really bad too cos i have like a tiered front yard with about 10 steps to it as well that she had to climb!

anyway next day i dropped off a bunch of flowers for her to say thanks! :)

am sure it wont be the first time "the boys", "SWAT", etc have got the wrong address!!! :pound:

No, it wont be. I have seen it many times, even on television. i was watching cops the other day and a policeman knocked out every window... literally, like 40 individual pains in a grid in one place (completely pointlessly) because he had a call that the house was on fire... of course, when the old lady came to the door he tried to get her to come out, but finally when the camera panned out... the house down the road was pillowing smoke.
