YARRP plugin got me banned

Hostgator temporarily suspended my account saying that I was using too much memory space (cpu) due to YARRP. I disabled this plugin but now my traffic has suffered. Is there another plugin like YARRP that doesn't use up so much CPU? Any tips on how to proceed will be much appreciated.

That's strange. A related posts plugin (correct me if I'm wrong) is using too much CPU and helps generate traffic for your site?

Haven't personally used YARRP but if you just want a decent, simple related posts plugin, I use WordPress Related Posts by Denis.
 
Not only YARRP but may be other plugin consuming memory like WP Robot, Self Analytics (Piwik) or any other.. May be you try linkwithin plugin it is same as YARPP.. Also disable those plugin which is not currently using.
 
i just need to find a plugin that does the same job without taking up so much memory...
 
When you make post titles like this, you deceive readers. You did not get banned you went over what your cheap hosting allows you to use for resources. I have it on several sites an not a problem in the world with it.
 
Your hosting was suspended due to cpu or memory, or both?

SSH in and use ps or top to actually check, don't just guess.
 
I have seen some hosters suspend sites that use YARPP on shared hosting accounts. And they did indeed specifically identify YARPP as the primary over-user of resources. So it's possible. But it also saddened me at the time because for certain types of sites YARPP is a great plugin for related posts.

Contextual Related Posts is the only other one I'd really recommend, it's okay but nowhere near as good as YARPP. You might look around the YARPP developer's site, last time I was there he had some info and tips. Also, are you using something like WP-Super Cache?
 
This is why you stay away from such hostings such as hostgator who try be professional in every way possible - my website suffered on 3 occasions where they decided to block it off completly - the bottom line is there job is to host not to poke there nose into your business

if your on a shared host and hit over 400+ users on live mode on google anayltics your website will no longer work for any upcoming users another drawback which I saw whilst with hostgator

either upgrade your plan or simply change host I'm with wiredtree now btw

what is the latest limit over 400 u have reached on wiredtree shared hosting account ?
 
IMO better then YARRP I cant post links yet

just do a search for author marynixie on wordpress org

Easier to configure, and is very well supported by the author.....a plugin worth donating too to support.
 
And what about SEO Auto Links & Related Posts?
