Like most other people here, I have made a LOT of email accounts over the years across a lot of different platforms and providers. A lot of them were set up for specific websites or business projects, and of course many others were set up just to sign up for things that will likely end up getting a lot of spam.

Because of that some of my older accounts don't really get checked much if at all. Well apparently one of those accounts on Yahoo was deleted for inactivity, who knows when. Unfortunately for me, that was the backup recovery email for a few other accounts that I used for various registrations. This only came to light because I decided to use one of those email accounts for something new and Yahoo decided there was "unusual activity" on the account and wants to send me a code to verify, which it will only send to that recovery account. The one that THEY deleted.

So I went ahead and logged into all my other email accounts to make sure they don't get deleted for inactivity, and updated the recovery info for them. Hopefully if I wait a few days or so, maybe the account with the 'unusual activity' flag will let me log in with just my password. Otherwise I'll have to look up the places I registered with that account and change my info. What a pain in the butt. :(

It really sucks because I really don't care at all about the account that was deleted, but the other one actually does matter to me. So, I guess this can be a reminder to everyone that if you have any older email accounts that you don't really use for much anymore, be sure they weren't used for anything important. Either keep them active or make sure that there is nothing else linked to them that matters.

If this acc was deleted maybe you can re-register this account with same username.

Yeah I thought of that too but, when I try to access the account it says "sorry we don't recognize this email", but if I try to sign up a new account it says "A Yahoo account already exists with this email address".

That might mean its closed but isn't complety deleted yet but when I tried going through the help pages the form won't let me get past the what is the problem page. The only option it gives is for reporting abuse. But that did get me thinking about it more and so might keep looking into the idea that it might just be closed and still able to recover it. Maybe I'll get lucky. It's funny too, cause this account was affected but a couple of other accounts that I had totally forgot about and not logged into for more than 4 years are still active. lol

OK well I went through the help pages again and it looks like it can't be reregistered because "Yahoo can never reactivate your account if: The account was deleted due to inactivity." So according to yahoo help pages, it looks like if you don't catch it within 40 days of being closed for inactivity then that address will never be available to register again. So like I said "Yahoo Sucks". lol
