Yahoo Directory worth $300?

I was just wondering whether getting listing in the Yahoo Directory is worth $300?

I can't really see it being a useful backlink because it'll be on a page that's already inundated with links - does anyone have a listing there? Does it enhance your traffic at all?

Well I don't know the specifics, but I could afford it and I haven't purchased it.

I think that Google are aware that anybody with cash can get into the directory, as it won't help anywhere near as much as Dmoz which is tightly reviewed.

However, it's also true that spammers are unlikely to invest that cash on some throwaway spam site so it will have some value.

I'd put the value as about 1/4 of that of getting into dmoz. It will help a little, but I don't think it justifies paying $300. For not much more, you could purchase xrumer, which would be 100 times more lucrative.

This. Just think of what you could do with that $300 if you outsourced, you could get a good xrummer blast and various other types of backlinking done for you (article marketing, link wheel, high pr blog comments) which would be much more effective if done properly than 1 yahoo backlink.
 
For one listing? 300? Seems awfully expensive. There are better ways to spend that money. Dont waste it on something like this.
 
Once you have a site that's paying off for you, then spend this money to increase the payoff.
 
I've read that If you are listed in DMOZ and Yahoo Directory, google might get the title for your page from there (since it's more trusted) instead of yout meta tags.
 
I'd use those 300$ in bookmarking and getting some submissions to directories, and buying some high pagerank links
 
A bit of offtopic, but I had a website which for some reason had a listing in Yahoo directory. I didn't submit it, and I didn't pay for it. No idea how it got there, since the site was nowhere near being popular and the domain was just about a year only with me as it's only owner ever.
 
In the very old days, I would get Yahoo directory listings. These pages had very high PR at that time. These days, directory pages that used to be PR7 are often PR N/A! That's really bad, and not worth $300. Get a free dmoz or Google directory listing instead.
 
Hey Guys thanks for your replies! :)

I already outsource, and I already have Xrumer. It was just an addition option that's all - there's no way a new site would get into DMOZ, so I thought Yahoo would be the next best option! :)

I think I'll leave it! ;)
