Hey guys,

Most of you may already knew this but i got a little confused about this News.

I'll Quote since i can't post links to the original post:

"According to ComScore report for July, 2013, Yahoo! was able to take the top spot with 196,564,000 visits compared to Google?s 192,251,000.

The report combines the traffic of all the properties owned by top Internet companies to find which one is able to grab the most visits. This report, of course, has little to do with profitability, growth or anything other than bragging rights, but there will undoubtedly be a celebration at Yahoo! none the less.

The top 5 companies in terms of US traffic for the month of July were:

Yahoo!
Google
Microsoft
Facebook
AOL

An interesting side note to this latest report is that the Yahoo! numbers do not include stats from their May, 2013 Acquisition of Tumblr, which is ranked #28 on this list with 38.3 million unique visitors. If ComScore does combine the two companies for their reporting in the future, it will undoubtedly help Yahoo! to retain the number one spot for quite some time. ComScore has not yet said whether or not the Tumblr traffic will remain separate, or get rolled up into Yahoo! for future reporting.

Yahoo! has been at the #2 or 3 spot over the past several years, so this isn?t an indication of a huge growth spike for the company. Why they were able to overtake Google this month is unclear at this point, and may simply be a matter of normal traffic fluctuations.

Whatever the numbers from this latest report mean to Yahoo! and Google, few could argue that this is just one more feather in the cap of Marissa Mayer, Yahoo! CEO, who has been in the news regularly with the announcement of over 20 company acquisitions in the last year."

Just wondering your thoughts about this, someone already mentioned the big G was killing SEO, if this happens and Yahoo grows to a hole new level we are facing another reality right? Forget Banned Adsense accounts, forget tricky algorithms, forget Penguin, we would all need to adapt to a whole new online scene..

I'd really like to know if you agree or not because i know most of you already rank for more than just google itself, but with that said i think it's a must have as we speak.

Cheers

Good news. At least we know that Google is not always on top of other search engines

I'm almost positive they still don't get as many searches as Google, just unique pagehits. All of the money is still with Google.

If you are really interested in targetting Yahoo/Bing, make sure to get an EMD (they're still heavily weighted) and go nuts. It takes longer for them to update their indexes but your rankings last a long time (and at 1/10 the value of Google, at least in my case).

I agree, but it made me think that it could make a BIG change to IM itself if this becomes a continues trend.

In a short timeline Google is winning and will continue, but my main focus is, what if it really changes?

I could never understand yahoo or bing. With google I have all first page rankings, with bing and yahoo I'm sometimes not even in the top 100, and even when I am, the traffic is just too insignificant.

The only sites I have ranking well on yahoo and bing, are the sites which are penalized on google.

Yeah this is not in reference to search queries. Yahoo anyway is integrating with Bing search, and although I actually think Bing is the best actual search engine as far as pulling up relevant shit, Google is still the bread winner for internet marketers.

I still believe that Google is the premier search engine. They continue to innovate and i think all their new ideas are well though out.

Thanks for all your input in this, and yes, after posting i realized this was something already mentioned on BHW, sorry about that.

Google is in my opinion still the best option, but being honest how many of us are full of their BS about adsense about algorithms and so on?

After all they are defining what SEO is and what it's not and we have to go with the flow, isn't that wrong in your opinion? In mine it is, it's like a monopoly game where they have it all, control it all and make their own rules.

In my opinion this is like you'r electric company provider telling you that you'r only allowed to use some lights at "X" amount of time, with "Z" chandelier brand. Who are they to tell you that right? So why don't we think about that in regards to google?

When we get burned over eBay, paypal, Aff. companies and others (just as an example) we pick up the pieces and move on, in today's world we can't do that because we would be targeting for failure. But wouldn't it be nice if we could?

Just my 2 cents about this :)

Cheers

I can see someone banking with this already. Some GURU over there must already have an eBook or something about it lol

If, indeed, Yahoo! will beat Google in terms of SE, then they will surely build their own Panda and Penguin algorithms.

As others have alluded to this is just page views, it is not correlated to number of searches and is not likely to any time soon. Yahoo is very often right at or near the top of the most visited websites as it has a very popular news portal and social features that people visit the page for not so much for their search engine.

Like crazedspider said, yahoo/bing's algorithms are miles apart from google's. Most of my penalized sites are ranking in yahoo/bing. They need a lot of links where google only need few high quality links.

Yeah but the Yahoo CEO is better looking than Google's:

Wow, this is gonna have a huge impact on the overall world of the IM world.

Meanwhile some previous gems you might have had can make you a big BANK.

This would be like a new option to register any extension you want all over again (despite it has been taken or not)

Anarchy almost.
