It's actually a good business model.

There are sites online making 7 figures a month doing exactly just this.

Oh I know. That's why I said nice setup. Most of their customers will cover the cost of those domain names within the first month. So it doesn't matter that it was being given away for free.

I saw another company selling .xyz for $9.99/year. Hope no one bought those when you can get them for $1 (or "free"). They'll probably be mad as hell if they ever find out about it.

Thanks for the info. Just snagged a 4 letter domain for free! So I also read if you want to transfer your domain out of pop, you would have to upgrade to full domain control for $2/mo which is still pretty cheap and of course you have to wait out the 60 days first. I'm not sure what their normal annual fee would be.

Be aware of free domain, take a look Freenom case, they suspended by ICANN.

In Freenom's case, they were doing something unethical and/or possibly illegal. ICANN should have suspended them. That was their own fault. I highly doubt Pop is participating in domain squatting and using brand names to manipulate the public into buying from them. Then again, I could be wrong. It remains to be seen.

looks like its working, I had updated main post
but it seems like registrar is not worth, since they(pop.xyz) are not offering full domain control [I found it on a user post]
can any one else confirm it? so I will close this thread

better go with namecheap $1/year

Good thing I wasn't going to use mine. Knew there was a catch.
