Got a message from onlydomains to confirm my order. I had registered a .xxx domain and was (un) pleasantly surprised to see that it costs $249 USD. The .xxx extension seems to be available from Sep 7th onwards.

Has anyone else purchased the .xxx domains already?

I'm still thinking if its a good idea to invest $250 in this domain name.

Wow, at that price tag it'll stop people going out and buying everything under the sun.

Unless someone knows what they are doing (unlike me) I think this is a great investment opportunity. But might also depend on how well people will accept the .xxx extension. At $250, i'd call it a little bit risky.

I'm pretty sure that the .xxx extention will become popular among adult webmasters. .com will probably still be the no.1 choice but I think that .xxx will beat both .net and .org.

It'd probably be good for pornography companies as that's there signature logo xxx.

If you're rich it's a good idea, but if you're not rich I'm not so sure it's a good idea to spend that kind of money on any domain name.

It's mostly for advertisers, $250 is crazy.

I am also willing to bet that Google will be a bitch for .xxx domains and won't let them climb. I assume it will be a branding oriented TLD.
Any WWW filter will block these domains. It won't be for SEO and hence not for the "regular" marketers.

Yep, at $250 it is indeed a gamble. And as for google, i'm assuming their 'filters' will by default have all .xxx blacklisted unless specifically configured, which I guess most users won't bother to. Although this could be just speculation.

Damn, wish I had $250 to throw away :o

You seriously have no clue wtf you're talking about

I just bought childcare.xxx , its going to be for my new childcare venture :D
lmao :D

it's good for the branded porn companies and sites. Other than that i'd say it's a waste of money not to mention it won't make any difference in regards to ranking.

.xxx is for porn industry and brands. I dont think it is a good investment unless you are a well established porn webmaster or a company

The reason that got me interested was to squat the domain and sell it. But at $250, i'm better off investing in some SEO tools that at least bring guaranteed results and less risky.

Didnt they give the main porn players a "private invitation" to register their names before the general public? for example allowing webmasters at brazzers etc to get their brazzer.xxx domain? Maybe it would be good for affiliates who were to buy something like bangbus.xxx and forward it to their affiliate link however as I just mentioned I think they had access before the "general public" to stop this from happening.

This is the 250$ reg. U can only reg if the. .com version has been registered before feb2011 and if it holfs adult content.
From sept it will only be around 70$

The extension was first designed to keep the porn in one area. Was of course by some greedy porn guys expecting they could get first grab for the good ones. Anyways if all porn is made to move to them then yes good investment. I do not see that happening so prob not.

Okay I found all the good ones that are still available:

animals.xxx
catholic.xxx
dudes.xxx
mymom.xxx
yourmom.xxx

I have found a .xxx domain of a company, should I buy it?
It's a REALLY big company, worldwide...

Thanks

P.S. The company is not porn oriented
