Hey guys,

just ordered Xsserver windows VPS. waiting for their email for setting up my server.

what are the important steps after getting VPS? i mean setting up IE, Anti-virus etc.

i wanna install SENukeX, AMR, BMD, Scrapebox, SS and couple of other software.

any tips or guide would be appreciated. :)

hmm not much... first just disable "Internet Explorer Enhanced Security":

  1. Start -> Administrative Tools -> Server Manager
  2. The root node is highlighted, in the right column, under the Security Information heading, click Configure IE ESC
  3. Disable IE ESC for Administrators and/or Users
I'm with XS too, have no antivirus but high security settings in IE. Scarapebox and senuke work without issues...

PM me if you have problems or so...

Cheers

Microsoft Security Essentials
works good on VPS's as it is lighter and does the job which is required.
also its free.

I have no experiences with Xsserver VPS, you will find help here in BHW.anyway good luck mate. share your new experience with all BHW members

cheers

You can install a basic anti-virus (preferably with a low-memory footprint like Microsoft's), then run Malwarebytes and/or Spybot once a week or whenever you feel the need.

Hope that helps you!

Microsoft Security Essentials and majority on other cheap or free antivirus software won't run on Windows Server. You'll need some sort of "enterprise" version for like $500. The only cheap antivirus that works on Windows Server I was able to find is F-PROT.

I have a question for you guys also. I was gonna get a xsserver but i can't decide whether to go go with windows or linux. Which one would be better to host about 10+ websites. Also if linux would be a way to go which os to install centos? Also is it better to go with xen or openvz. Thank you very much for the help

Linux is almost always displays faster load times then a Windows based server. If you are going to host sites multiple sites go for Linux Centos and use Nginx for faster load times. Xen and VmWare are the best, overselling is almost impossible with these two, so go with them if you have the choice.

Ok thank you very much for the help. One more question for the linux is it better to go with 64bit ? Also which is better xen pv or xen hvm ? Thank you again

Not to be rude but time to open your own thread. It's not nice to hijack someone's thread.

just asking a simple question . relax dude

i'm with them , i don't have any anti-virus or security software , work with xrumer + senukex + scrapebox ( xrumer + scrapebox in the same time kills the vps ) so i work with one and stop others

Hey mate I Run Microsoft Security Essentials on 3 servers :)

@ OP
Hey if you install SENukeX, AMR, BMD, Scrapebox, SS these
then when you are running SB the server will slow down
so you can run
SenukeX + AMR or SenukeX + BMD at the most, at same instance
but you cannot run
SenukeX + SB + AMR all at once, so instead you can opt for 3 different 1 GB ram VPS (hint Thrust VPS) from next month

I also use their $35 / month 1 GB ram plan. It's great, their service is always fast.

Since you like to you lots of tools /threads at the same time, make sure you have enough RAM (at least 1 GB). Bandwidth would never be an issue with them but if you have lack of ram or proxies, it might slow u down. Good luck

Great info, I was woundring what VPS is all about. Now I kind of have a hold on it.

Well I ran with this server for 2 months and it is slooooooooooooooow! Had the $35 package. Took forever to load Scrapebox. I am saying it was slow to navigate around. I could never browse from that server either, it was that slow.

I'm having the same problem with thrust, can somebody PLEASE recommend me a VPS that is definitely faster and has a reasonable price tag?
