As everyone seems to recommend/plan to use XSServer.eu's VPS for scrapebox, I thought I'd to provide a review from my personal experience with them.

I decided yesterday to order a WVPS2, essentially to run Scrapebox and probably a few other tools.

Details:
Germany Windows VPS
Windows Server 2008
CPU: 2.60 GHz (They actually gave 2.80 GHz)
RAM: 512 MB
Disk Space: 60 GB
Data Transfer: Unmetered
100mbit Connection (Shared, obviously)
Price: $25/month

If I find that 512MB RAM is not enough for SB I may switch to WVPS3 (1024MB RAM @ $35/month) next month, but anyway I decided to start with this cheap one for the first month.

I placed my order at 2:30pm GMT, and I received a confirmation email with my VPS login details at 10:30pm GMT.
So set up went smoothly and took 8 hours, which is less than I expected.

This morning I logged into my VPS and everything looked fine.
I immediately downloaded and fired SB.
(Unfortunatly) it didn't activate with someone else's license this time :D
So I entered my info to request a license transfer and I'm now waiting for it to be activated.

While waiting, I ran a speedtest as some people debate about the connection speed.
It's understood that the 100Mb connection is shared between several VPS, so you'll be far from 100mb if yours is shared with other BHatter running SB/XRumer all day long.
Well it seems like I've been lucky and don't have to many other bad boys in my neighboorhood, here are the two speed tests I ran this morning:

W00t! I feel alone on my node :D

I'll start running ScrapeBox as soon as my license transfer will be done, and wil report back in here asap after a few test runs.

In the meantime, feel free to ask any question or to add your own thoughts about xsserver.eu.

PS. Please don't send me PMs to ask questions, ask them here instead. Don't be selfish, your question and their answers could also profit others fellow BHW members.

Good on you for posting this review. There's a heck of a lot of confusion around what requirements you need for a VPS to run ScrapeBox. I personally didn't think you'd have acceptable performance with less than 2GB RAM on a Windows Server 2003 32-bit system. Love to hear how it goes with 512 and 1G RAM.

I have the 1gb ram package with win server 2008 and it work fine with scrapebox.

Yes this is very true. I must admit that I was also very confused and wasn't sure what I would need, and I finally decided that the best way to know what was actually needed for SB was to try it myself.

This is also why I started this thread to keep everyone informed of my results and help reduce this confusion.

Actually until now I was running SB on a mac on a virtual machine that had windows xp and 768MB RAM (and parallels desktop was using part of it), and I still had good performances.

So for a VPS I chose to try at first with the $25 package with 512Mb, which I think can be good. And why pay more if this is enough ? :)
Anyway as this plan is paid on a monthly basis, I can switch to another VPS with more RAM next month if required.

I've just received my SB license transfer confirmation while typing this, so now I'll start running my first test with the main functions :
- proxy checker
- harvester
- fast poster

Will report the results here in a few hours.

Let do this!

lets go i wait for results...stands the server in germany??? what is the different to virtual server ??

nice review, do let us know how it goes. Also your speed test results are nice and 90% of the time they are false, because speedtest servers are free donated servers to OOKLA

their vpses are good, instant setup and support and stuff, but try ordering a dedi with them, they take weeks to deliver, and upgrading ram or a hard disk can take a week too. they never keep stock and i faced delays once than their committed period too. is it wise to trust your data with a business like this?

edit: they dont stock hardware, so if their server hosting the vpses fucks up one day, we'll have to wait a whole week till the server comes back up?

Keep us updated mate, I'm needing a SB vps myself

Alright here are my first quick test results :

Proxy checker:

40 threads
45sec timeout

562 proxy checked in 4:26min
24 passed google with latency <3000ms (yeah that's a bit shitty but you never know what you'll get with public proxies)

Harvester:

Google + Yahoo : 30 connection each w/ 1000 results
30 sec timeout
24 public proxies
A bunch of keywords + WP footprints

G: 192105 URLs
Y: 567061 URLs
A total of 759166 URLs harvested in 69:32min

512MB RAM seems to be good so far, everything runs smoothly. And still I have nothing to complain about regarding the connection speed (see speed test in OP).

Will report back a poster test later.

Let us know about fast poster results...

And tell you what, you're one lucky customer of them who got more than expected. I'm on $35/mo package and am getting pissed off day be day. Internet speed is shit, SB hangs all day and whatnot :o

Nice, this further confirms that I need to get an XSServer ASAP. I'm probably going to run Scrapebox and AMR on it. Do they tell you to pack your shit if you're a spammer like us?

Hi,
I agree with you, we had delays before delivering dedicated servers, now the thing is changed we guarantee the server gets deliver within 2-3 working days :)

Hi,
Can you email me your server IP, am not able to PM cause I do not have sufficient post, I will check the issue with your vps.

Thanks

Same experience here! :(

I was with them for about a month, I had exactly same problems, my internet speed connection was a joke, and it was a headache after headache, and SB hanging everytime I used it.

Bad luck I guess...

Hi,
As I check your account I can not get even a single email about the low speed, if we had an email from you then we might help you.

I've been with XSServer, ThrustVPS and VolumeDrive. Without a doubt, XSServer offers the best VPS. I get speeds of 50-70Mbps. Been with them for two months and never experienced any downtime.

@OP Thanks for this thread. Good info. Im just curious if anyone has a vps set up capable of handling senuke and scrapebox simultaneously or multiple instances of SB even. Would love to hear what kinda stats it takes to do something like that.

Fast poster results are here!

After removing duplicates out of my harvested URLs, I was left with 121674 unique domains, and ran fast poster on them.

Fast Poster:

121674 URL's
40 threads
90 sec timeout
272 public proxies
Delay OFF (not needed because it was only unique domains)

Success : 43520 (36%)
Failed : 78070
Operation took 562:33minutes (9hours 22minutes)
Average speed : 216 post/min

I used to see higher speed, but I know this depends also on the quality of the list and proxies.
Here I used public proxies and a raw list (direct from harvester) which I didn't run through blog analyzer.
As for the 512Mb RAM, it's still fine, but memory load is huge, so it's enough for one instance of SB but I don't think it would be fine to run other tools/instances at the same time.

I'm now running link checker as a last part of this test. Results and conclusion of this "first 24h review" coming in a moment.

I was thinking to buy their $35/month package but the mixed feedbacks make me search for an alternative.

I'll post a couple of screenshots to show you something. Hope Zak_A won't mind :)

This is what I was getting:
1313508776.png

I talked to them and asked them if they could hook me up on some other node and they did it within 2 hours (pretty damn fast).
Now here is what I got:

1314331958.png

2 instances of SB running (one fast poster and other harvester)

What does it tell?
Well, its about luck lol :D If they put you on a node which is crowded with hardcore blackhatters, then you will get shit.
But conversely, as OP has said, sometime you get a node which is just so nice... :)

And scrapebox now posts w/o hanging.

Cheers.
