Wordpress is by far the better of the two... with the amount of plugins and community support you can pump out seo friendly sites like double cheeseburgers at McDonalds.
I started with XSite pro, moved to Dreamweaver, went back to XSite, jumped to Wordpress, download XSitePro2 the otherday... damn.... If I had to pick one (but I don't), it would have to be Wordpress
I do some work for people with very low budget hosts. No MYSQL DB's for WP, so I use Xsite (and one called Coffeecup) now and again.
Coffeecup is REALLY quick -and if the client doesn't want monetization, you can have a 5 or 6 page site up in 90 minutes from graphics to full install.
If they want monetization the X-Site
If they want the one that will rank best, has great support and monetization options AND they have decent hosting (which almost everyone has) then it's WP all the way.
For micro-niche sites, try the free GetSimple CMS, you will understand it pretty quick, if you know Wordpress. Also, it does not need SQL, just copy and use, perfect for small and fast sites!
