Did anybody try that out? Running XRumer on your linux dedicated with wine?
I don't think using XRumer while drunk is a good idea .
Wine should work like the usual windows system.
I think he means wine as compatibility layer for running windows programs.
yes should, however, there are many apps which do not run with wine
especially I wonder what happens when there are that many network connections open
Nobody here tried it?
I hered it works can't speak from personal experience though.
Someone on the Xrumer official forum said it work.
Pay the 15 bucks for windows , Why compromise on performance of xrumer.I am not a linux expert but any program which uses multi threading will use lot more resources if its in virualisation. That means more spending on your part anyway...Only advantage I see is to host an apache and some websites in that server...which would be a not so good thing to do if you are using xrumer without proxies
I can confirm that it works. At least under Linux Mint 8/9.
Upgrading a whole Dedicated Server from Linux to Windows is going to cost you A LOT more that $15. Not only that, but all the website that are hosted are going to have to change. You're going to have to get the hosting service to setup IIS efficiently, including install PHP, MySQL etc ... or, you're going to have to learn ASP and MS SQL Server.
I wouldn't of thought you would have any problems with the latest Wine. However, what I would recommend is to purchase a solid emulator that lets you install Windows 7 on top of Linux. Most are web-based, so you don't have to worry about the hosting engineers charging $100 an hour to set up!
All the best,
Since you have a Dedi, install Xen and you 're good to go
Install Windows on a Xen VM and it will work like a charm.
