I've never given it much though because with the sheer number of that xrumer can blast...who cares. But someone asked me the other day -

Are forum profiles generally ******** or nofollow?

Is there a way of checking with xrumer?

Thanks guys

Little bit of both? Mostly they're overspammed, you could blast some profiles with uniq username and then after a day or so you check what % got indexed.

Thanks hexer - but surely indexing does not tell me whether 'nofollow' value has been assigned to the hyperlink element of any given profile. The attribute may cover the page, or just my link - no?

No it doesn't, but if profile urls won't get indexed there's no good reason to create them in the first place.

No follow links do carry some weight. Just because it doesn't show up in a search doesn't mean it was not considered for you ranking. Link diversity is the name of the game.

I have sites on the first page that have a mix of the two types of links. Can't really say that one type helps more than the other.
