I noticed a lot of people using Xp for seo tools like sense magic sub, ect. Is Xp better to use for seo tools? Any thoughts?

No They are not. Microsoft now stopped supporting XP so some new tools even do not run on XP.

Windows 8 is a little bit too new and still probably has bugs with drivers and other system type things that bots need (maybe older .net framework, I heard only .net 4 ships with windows 8) so I would say win 7 is the safest bet to run all bots.

XP dont use much ram itself so when you have small vps XP is good option to go + many providers offer xp or win 7 on vps. Most of that os is cracked versions ;). Also as far as i remember Senuke developer recomended 4 gig ram for XP vps and 8 gig for windows 7 vps. XP is not better, it only eat less resoruces.

According to Microsoft they're still supporting XP until 08/04/2014. So you've got a while yet unless I've misunderstood their release?

I never thought there was anything wrong with win 98.

Windows xp is fine, and most software should support it. In fact, a lot of stuff may not support windows 8 because it's so new, even though microsoft says everything will work... cough cough bullsh!t....

I haven't messed with windows 8. I completely switched to a mac about a year ago, and I don't regret it. Unfortunately most software in this business will only function on a pc. I've been using vmware fusion with less issues than actually running a pc.

I doubt it as windows no longer supports XP nor do many new programs.

For me Windows XP is working perfectly but the new come Win7 64bit is working perfect on my desktop/laptop and as well on the VPN. The most important is to configure it properly knowing that many SEO Tools requests a lot of processor resources

Even in my view instead of having computer used for SEO softwares better invest a few amount in VPS server and have your SEO software working on 100mbps 24*7 on your own separate VPS login anytime using remote desktop to monitor or use your software.

No need to worry for electricity bills, internet high bills, keeping computers online 24*7 hrs. too...
