Xbox 360 vs. Playstation 3

So for those of you who are video game-savvy....which system should I get , with the following in mind.

1. I'm not a fan of first person shooter

2. I like sports and strategy games

3. I would love the play sports online.

4. I like Fighting Games (SFII)

All of my friends say XBOX 360 is better. But to me it seems it's all about 1ps (modern warfare, call o' duty, assasin's creed)

The same games are available on PS3, yes? But PS3 does not have good (or any) online action? But I'm cool with having a kick ass Blu-Ray player AND a video game system

I would buy xbox for online alone to be able to play fighting and sports games online, but have NO interest in the Halos.

Isn't XBOX coming out with something new come XMAS time?

So what do you say?

I have both and would favour the PS3 for most aspects but favour XBox 360 for online play. Some may disagree but that's my personal opinion.

I work with these systems and just to let you know that the XBOX New, used or refurbished has about a 50% breakdown rate. Not sure with the newest models though but I would take that into consideration too.

This is of course that red circle of death, correct?

My friend actually owns an unwarrantied XBOX that is useless because of that.

Favouring the PS3 for "most" aspects is kind of the way I feel. Xbox has the big hand of online play...

It could be 3 red rings or the E74 error. Both are pretty bad. you could fix them but the fix could last as long as a few hours. Those are the most common problems

If you are playing online, go with the 360. That's where all the real gamers are. The Madden challenge is on 360. As far as the red ring, the newer consoles have corrected the issue.

I had an xbox and I really enjoyed it, but there are some really competitive people on there and these are the type of people who take the fun out of gaming, but there are some fun people too, but I decided to go back to ps3 and it has improved so much since it first came out, as for what you said about the online gaming of ps3 I have to disagree I play games online on the ps3 and there are plenty of people on there to play against, I actually find the people online on the ps3 a lot friendlier, so if I was to choose for you I would say ps3.

But remember this is just my opinion and what ever you decide is your choice in the end.

50% is a bit harsh. Maybe if you're looking at a really long time. But they kinda fixed that, it was a matter of crappy manufacturing, bad soldering or something.

Anyways, I can't really tell. At first I thought about buying the xbox because you can burn your own games and stick it to the Microsoft, but ps3's got better graphics and it's a more solid system. And they just released god of war 1&2 for ps3, damn I always wanted to play that stuff. But around here the ps is still around $400 and I don't wanna support our communist regime. Come on, it's like 5 years old. Maybe I'll order it on amazon some day...

And if you like sports and strategy games just buy a damn PC, you can't go wrong with that

I fixed my RROD and managed to get a full hour of play out of it >.< now i prefer my ps3

the online play isnt that bad imo.

I have had the same PS3 since they came out and I have left it on by mistakes for a couple weeks before and it works perfectly.

I have owned 3 xbox 360's in the past 9 months...I do play the xbox more then the PS3..
but the first one was used and after 1 month the 3 red lights came on. junked it.
the second one same problem and it was new and I sent it in and they just fixed it and now the fan is loud as shit so I sold it to a friend dirt cheap.
The thrid one and the current one I have now for the past several months is an late model Elite which that is when they said they "fixed these issues"..well after like 3 months it was giving me the disc read error and I havent done anything about it n it only happened a couple times and works almost every time..

Basically I bet you the 50% is low for how many break within the first 2 years or less. I have never met someone with an Xbox that hasnt had an issue. WIth the Ps3 it's opposite.

I like playing online with the Xbox and basically only because my friends refuse to get the Ps3

The PS3 is a blu ray player, great video games, and a SOLID peice of equipment and the new ones for 300$ is SUCH A GREAT DEAL.

I would buy only PS3 because of its unique exclusives (ex. Metal Gear Solid 4, Heavy Rain (still isn't released), Little big planet - there are no other games like them). Xbox360 exclusives are just usual shooters.

- have fun paying to get owned by those who have yet to take out the CD since the first time they put it in

PS3
- FREE online play
- internet browser
- blu-ray player

I do have a PS3 and the only game I play is FIFA10 (been playing since FIFA95) ... when I played the same game on XBOX360 I found graphics to be better on PS3, donno why... maybe it's just for that game?

Either way, if you're not a hardcore gamer like me you should obviously go with the PS3

How is FIFA 2010 to play online with PS3?

Quite honestly that's the only reason I really want the XBOX. Online Play with Fifa (and Street Figther 4)

Also alot of people make it sound like there's no online community with PS3.

I was leaning toward the PS3...and so far this thread is confirming that hunch.

Online is FREE for PS3? hmmmm.

Because, well I'm not into 100 shooters, HA!

I don't have fifa 10 for ps3 yet, but I have got fifa 09 and I have played it online and I find it excellent, the people are brilliant and you can have some good games.

Xbox 360 is cheaper and has better games.

Also the xbox 360 is way better because i dont own a PS3.

Xbox fucking sucks. I have it and it is a piece of shit to be honest with you. ANY good game you can find on the Xbox you can also find on the PS3 (minus Halo and GTA), and the PS3 version is usually better. The PS3 exclusives are so much better anyways. Halo is a piece of trash and the only reason why it's so popular is because it's a simple game for simple people, and we all know how many simple people there are in this world.

Killzone 2 >>>>>> Halo 3.

PS3 has Little Big Planet, Killzone, Uncharted, Demon's Souls, Metal Gear Solid, Dragon's Age, God of War, Braid, Infamous, Resistance.

..and not to mention Final Fantasy XIII (way better on PS3) and XIII Versus (PS3 exclusive).

And as for the online professionals playing on xbox, that is bullshit. The only thing is that the density of Americans is greater on Xbox, because all Xbox fanboys are American.

Bottom Line:

if (you want to Play GTA)
get an Xbox;
else
get a PS3;

I got both.... I never touch my PS3.... I pretty much use the XBOX360 100% of the time... and never have even gone online, or wanted to, with the PS3
