WTH Linux expert to fix Virtual box lan connection

I am running lightweight debian distro inside of VirtualBox (using 80MB of ram) and need somebody to fix connectivity issues for me.


The virtual box can access the internet,but cannot access the host via lan.
Host cannot access virtual box via lan either, but can access it fine via internet.

I need somebody to fix the connectivity for me. I think it's because virtual box has ip 10.0.0.1 (or whatever it is) which isn't a part of the host subnet and so they cannot see eachother.


This should be an easy fix for somebody that knows what he's doing.

The easiest way to do this is to set the network adapter to bridged mode in virtualbox.

Highlight your virtual machine (while off). Then go to.

Machine >> Settings >> Lan (tab) >> set Attached to = Bridged.

Then boot your virtual machine.

I tried bridged already. Virtualbox machine couldn't access internet anymore.
Tried it with pinging google. could not resolve hostname.

lan connectivity did work back then though

Bridged is the way to go. Make sure that the interface it is pointing to is the same one your host machine uses to connect to the internet. Then try loggin into the VM and in a shell run:
