Hey can someone explain to me how this works please.

    OK buyer purchased from me.
A few minutes after I see the funds go on hold by paypal.
Ok so now the money is not in my account anymore.
I go to resolve the issue and say that the item was given to the buyer.

Today I log in and there's a new dispute and paypal is giving me 2 options.
Proof that I shipped the items. ( I cant since its an intagible item )
Refund the money to the buyer.
HOW THE FUCK! do they want me to refund it if its not in my account anymore ?

I agree with oldenstyle, The best option in dealing with Paypal is the telephone.

When you call them, let them know it was not a physical product.
I think their rules are different with intangible products.

    Good luck

yea but when I choose to refund they are gonna take the money from account again right? Then im losing instead of making anything at all.
, because the money is not in my account anymore... paypal already reverted it or some shit.

Paypal is going to hold the money until the dispute is resolved. I agree, the best course of action is the phone...BUT be sure to respond to the dispute. Then it will be on the customer to respond or escalate the dispute...if they fail to escalate the dispute by the date given (shown inside of the dispute case) then Paypal will release the funds to you and you'll be good to go.

I've had cases where the customer was just being a dick so I kept going back and forth with him to "work things out" until the date to escalate passed...then the funds were released and I didn't have to worry about dealing with the customer...(I didn't do it to cheat the guy, he was just trying to get something for nothing)

Be sure that you are polite and professional when you speak to Paypal's reps...believe me, it goes a long way. If you come off rude at all, getting them to help will be much more difficult. I've found with Paypal, keeping your cool always works best.

    Good luck!

when you call you will be asked for the last 4 digits of your social

after that it will keep giving you multiple options to choose from....

to bypass all that just keep saying

over and over till it connects you to a representative - will take just a few second! ;)

as someone has already mentioned if you resolve the case by refunding that person, paypal will release those held funds back to the user it wont take it out of your account again.

hth and hope you get it resolved.

    thanks

alright instead of whining about paypal, we know it sucks. We as programmers, marketers, and supposedly all of us making good money, come up with a solution, a better way of accepting payment. Is there another kind of payment accepter, that is good, perhaps not as popular but as long as it doesn't hold your money, and you get it all, hey whats the problem of using a popular product? Jason's solution is to have a third party that takes care of the product and money switching, to confirm that fair play has occured an neither party is trying to scam the other. With a quicker resolution time. There's a start up company idea for someone. You would have to have deep pockets however for this endeavor. But as long as we keep using paypal and letting them do what they want with our money, this will keep happening. When you don't like the system, change the system.
