I just googled one of my keywords and the featured snippet is from a website that doesn't even rank on the first page. It's at position 11 and it has a featured snippet on page 1?

I saw this today for the first time. It wasn't there yesterday.

Yeah, google does that from time to time. It gives newer, not ranking website a shot, to see the user engagement and bounce rate. If the website seems helpful, it will get a higher ranking score. ( That doesn't necessarily mean a higher ranking, it depends on the websites from the home page) So I wouldn't click on the snippet if I were you, although if it's a very searched keyword, your click won't make a difference..

That makes a lot of sense. Thanks.
Isn't that the purpose of opening this thread ?
Yeah
Title of the thread make me to ask that question.
LOL

I recommend you to focus more on the snippets. Make sure you involve such things in your content.

For example if someone is searching for: "How long does it work to train a dog?"
You should include something like: "Usually it takes xx weeks to train a dog" in your content.

Its really helpful to involve something like a FAQ or Q&A in your content.

Ps. Google is a bitch for stealing content and showing it directly on the serps.

Feature snippet can kill a business ? I mean, because of people who ask questions and got them answered with the features snippets, not bothering going on the website anymore. Do you think a lot of businesses suffer of this tool ?

It wont kill the business, but webmasters will lose lots of traffic, which they normally could monetize.

FAQ
will give good keywords and google impressions for traffic.

also let you no what kw to pump up.

Copying websites content and showing it in their search results, while you will get a penalty if you do the same!

Of course its there to kill anyone who depends on SEO and push them to Adwords

Yes it makes sense

Over 51% of all searches result in zero clicks to the content creator...

If you lose half of the 51% because of this, you lose half of your customers/readers... because of google, we can question the ethic behind it and I understand the angriness of some, but I think it is pointless because nobody can change anything about that. Google rules the world...

I think you just created a word. Angriness. And I like it.

Sadly, that is the reality of how snippets work and they do indeed have a negative effect the the CTR of your website even if you are the one having your snippet appear at the top.

This is true. I see this many times. Cant really do anything about it :(

Happy you like my word haha, english is not my first language and I realise that sometimes I freestyle a little bit, I saw that this word do in fact exist but is very rarely used.

But yes my point was that you cannot do anything with google, they are untouchable, even when they steal content! They are like the tax office, you must play by their rules, even if you don't like it. :)

You lose nothing because the traffic is not yours. It's google's.
