So Im trying to rank/dial in my SEO for a landing page.

Keyword A:
Ranked #5 out of 93.5M Results.
Keyword density: .26%

Keyword B:
Ranked #21 out of 15.4M Results.
Keyword density: .80%

I feel like I have made just as many anchor backlinks and done as much seo for both keywords.

Is KW density just BS or is one of my KW just have a higher competition?? (besides raw numbers of competition)?

Please let me know your thoughts!!

thing is its not enough info to figure that out. IMO its not bull. You need to really analyze your comp in those keywords to figure out the diff in ranking.

Those percentages are so low I don't think they are playing into the equation... try upping the density to about 6-10% using about 400-1000 words on the page... mostly in the form of paragraphs. The fact that the percentages are so low makes me think your pages are huge. Tune each page for 1 phrase only. Tuning a page for everything is the same thing as not tuning. The phrase you are tuning for should have at a minimum 40 matches in the source code and maybe more depending on your competition.

Like the other guy said... We can only guess.

Haha, yes you are right the page is large. It is not in WP.

I have built some other pages for SEO, but they are not showing up in the SERPS (yet)... Should I just build more pages (and do the linking building/SEO for them) and have them link to the index?

keyword density is just one factor that will affect your ranking. there are still many factors like page rank etch.

I would not get to obsessed with keyword density as it is only one factor just like ultimategamechain said. You can of course go over the board like ipopbb suggested to see if that changes your rankings. If you do, let us know if it does.

I really like it when you come into a conversation ipopbb.
Could you please tell me what you mean in the bolded italics sentence. Are you talking about totals of the phrase in ALT tags, tags, meta etc as well as the content. Excuse me if I am not understanding correctly.

Thanks

There are several factors for ranking and keyword density is one of them... Also very big page is not very good... Try to target different phrase or keyword with different pages...

3%-4% keyword density is good enough... Don't stuff more... Try to use Google keyword suggestion in your article apart from usual keyword...

^^True. ALso make sure each page is 500 words or more.

Overboard... have you check a page one serp for a popular keyword in the past 6 months? Take a look and learn.

This is a pre caffeine benchmark... analyze page 1 SERPs and pay special attend not only to individual word density but number of source code matches... Its a whole new google today.

When you view source and do a find... you should find it at least 40 times... it can appear in tag attributes and other places too. Thats why visible matches in browser view can be misleading. This is why image maps are the new SEO power tool... there is now keyword density challenge that cant be met with image map alt tags and "in url" keywords...

Compare with 1,2, and 3 in serps and see where you stand in comparison...

I'm not saying this is the only way, but you can at least make the measurements and have a pretty good idea if they are outranking you simply by saying the word 50 times more than you... 9/10 this is why people don't rank...

The whole keyword thig has me baffled. Main KW: 30 million sites. Me = not found.
KW 2: 18 million Page 18 These I have been working. One of my products that only gets an honorable mention on the page 12 million sites I am #3 Pg 1. No effort to promote or SEO at all. Just makes me go "WTF?" I work my butt off and nothing or do nothing and BAM! haha, so confusing!

if you analyze the top 5 for that keyword you will see their density etc but its not that important as long as you have the keyword positioned right etc. ie title, first para bla bla bla

some good free tools to help you out there
