WTF??? How Are They Doing This?

hi all. recently been chatting to a friend who said he was getting spammed on msn messenger. i was like wtf how? he said people was adding him and then when he accepted he was messaged near enoguh right away. saying hi.

next message was hey asl?

profile pic was a chikc holding her breasts lol. i didnt think nothing of it and thought just someone ewhoring.

anyways today someone added me to msn while i was online. so being nosey i accepted to see who it was. now i didnt say one thing in the messages but they came online. messaged me with the above messages. all on what seemed to be autopilot.

now i didnt get far enough to see what link they was pimping but i knew i was being a target haha. so i deleted and blocked right away. but then thought to myself. how is this being done on auto? and how are they scraping msn accs to add? cos i dont giv this email to anyone. only close friends and stuff.

so does anyone know how this is being done? is it easy to do lol?

I've seen this before, but they were promotion an ppi exe to download.

Head over to P-P-I.org, they have the software that does this over there. You can have it message anything.

i want to know this too... this is common on yahoo.. but msn.. this is new!

Be careful though, if you don't cover your tracks, you could get in some serious trouble...as these people are really just spreading a virus.

Sometimes, on my MSN, I receive messages from my friends that say to go to X site to see celebrity pics ... I never clicked on that urls but I know that when we click on url, all of my friends will receive the same message!

those are definitely from viruses. We see those here in the office from time to time. Usually managers who are technically inept spread those things thinking it was porn or something lol.
What I am curious to know is how I get the anonymous spams from people not on my MSN list. Its not spyware, because I use linux, so there must be a way to exploit the messaging gateway somehow

I'm careful with most URLs people email in IM me too.

if you can code, there are plenty of API's for c that let you use messenger protocols like AIM, IRC, and MSN. Once you know which are good making something like this is a piece of cake.. ive made an aim one before, never tried msn because I dont use it

here a quick rundown,

i use a msn addon, hxxp://live.msg*discovery.com it has an autoreply function to reply to a specific text. or just use a wildcard. ( if im not wrong they even have a delayed option )

To get pervs to add me on msn, i just login to irc, use a sexy nick, set my irc remote to autoreply, saying something like " sorry i'm away in the shower now, you can add me to msn and i will txt u once i'm back, [email protected]

This is the tough part, the pervs will be adding you to their contacts like mad, and in msn i have to accept or decline them 1 by 1, imagine 100++ msn windows blinking,. sigh
Warning " your pc will lag a lil hahah "

Once added in the contact list,
i just set to online, the ruse or story line will be something like this,

Perv: Hi
Me Autoreply: Hello, can you help me with something, i setting up my profile on (adult site offer ) but no matter how i do it, i cannot see my image in the photo sharing. Could you be a darls and help me if you can see my profile in there? Da nick is "sweetjenny"

*make sure you have a dummy account in there

They will sign up for a free account to verify if your profile is working or not.
Once they say, it looks ok.
