Yeh they mentioned this "merchant quality" algorithm a few months back but it didn't really get picked up by the mainstream.

Basically I interpreted it as the end of crappy amazon sites and even legitimate small time retailers, so I changed up the way I did my Amazon sites to be more focused on non-product keywords.

Looks like they gonna make a big push even further for big brands for products.

interesting article, thanks OP. Basically every action the past years is leading towards increasing the power of the big players like amazon ect. Sooner or later shit will hit the fan- until then we will have to figure out how to hustle through these changes
No kidding, I used to be able to search for products on Google and find them through smaller companies. These days, the search results only yield Amazon and other large companies like Dell and Microsoft, depending on what you're searching for. I know these websites are trusted and offer 'quality' products, but they're not even giving the smaller companies a chance at this juncture.

OMG, just started building my first amazon e-commerce site and now reading this. Dunno how to adapt with those Google scary animals!!

Would you please elaborate more on your new Amazon sites strategy?

Google is not going to be happy until Amazon ranks number 1 for every keyword and the only way to compete with them
is use the handy Adwords system.

Why can't Google come up with some more interesting names for their updates? Can't they call them like "Amazon takeover" or something more related?

Or it's just Google trying to be lest racist vs all things with the color of a Zebra.

Google is trying to be anti racist! where white and black could stands up together! hahaha

but these days they are not taking easy with us (spammer) lol
