It really would suck to build a massive network only to get it knocked out due to copyright infringement.

It would, but i feel that is pretty unlikely in my case.
The only thing i'm worried about is google punishing my SEO for this. Most videos have automatic translations, so i'm worried that they will find plaguarized content this way.

So, just control-c control-v the transcript.
I mean, it isn't like Google is connected to YouTube right?
So, for your money site? Tier 1 content? Tier 2 content? What you looking for?

If you're saying using Google's own automated technology to transcribe YouTube videos and then using those article to populate your PBN - Then honestly, ,if everyone starts doing it, and it becomes a "thing" then it will be EASY for GOogle's algorithms to take it into consideration somewhow - especially if the people doing it are touting low quality shit content and tricking the SERPs this wa

My experiment ended with a manual ban, site was created 15 days ago and was removed from index today.
I scrapped 5 mln video subtitles from Youtube (only manually translated, not auto-generated) with length > 500 words.
So, now we are know this is not a good idea, Google AI is smart and can detect any usage of Youtube subtitles.
But I know a few sites that successfully use this method even now and Google definitely doesn't ban them. Most likely, this method doesn't work for new sites already. Or work only with a small amount of scraped content that not looks too spammy.

Are you 100% sure the ban was caused by this, or might it have been something else as well?

Grammarly plagiarism checker usually finds text from my YouTube videos that is not posted anywhere else.

I used this technique with my school papers, and to make it even more solid I would put it through a spinner.
