I've just started writing articles for my tier 1 backlinks, but I've become quite confused.

GSA has an option for the percentage of each type of anchor text I want. So this means I have to use place holders (%keyword%), (%anchor_text) in my article.

I know %keyword% goes in the the position of your keywords. But where exactly would I insert the %anchor_text% placeholder?

The same place, articles would take anchor texts. Keywords are for scraping purposes.

Ah I see. what about the placebolder %keyword%. Where does that come into play?

You have the ability in SER (GSA is the company name not the software name) to check the box 'use keywords as anchor text' if you plan on using the same keywords for scraping as you do for your anchors (if you are building links from a list for example) than you put %keyword% in the article. If you will be populating the anchor text and keywords fields with different keywords than you will use %anchor_text%.

It doesn't really make a difference though since if you do have the box checked, and you use the %anchor_text% macro than it will still work. To cut a long story short, use %anchor_text% and forget about %keyword%.
