So I want to write up an e-book on a technique I have developed and I wanted to ask some questions about them.

First of all how exactly do you write a good looking e-book? Is there a
program you need to make pdfs? Also is there really anything I can do to
protect from people buying it then uploading it to rapidshare and tossing it
    around like a dirty hoe?

Im guessing there is not seeing as how I have downloaded probably hundreds
of e-books from here so I guess it will just be payback is someone from here
    uploads it.

Basically I just need to know how I can write an E-bookn then haha

You can write it in Microsoft word and then use a Word-to-PDF converter, or even Adobe Acrobat Pro to convert it to PDF.

I know exactly how you feel... I grab ebooks all the time, so can't really feel bad if someone grabs mine. Now then, what can you do about it? Rather than be worried about who grabs it, put in multiple affiliate links (done with taste of course), that point people either to upsells, or back to your site. Now here is one QUICK TIP. Do not put in a direct clickbank (or whatever) hop link... Instead cloak the link so it comes first to your site, then to the offer. This accomplishes two things.

    1. You can track the traffic.
    2. It's not so easy for someone to change the hoplink to theirs, then simply redistribute the pdf.

Keep writing, get a reputation, and you'll get sales, and of course shares (BHW) but that's okay as long as you have your link in there.

several threads on this. you can write it with openoffice(free). there is also some good paid sw out there. you can't keep the ebook off rapidshare, but you can lock the pdf and insert your aff links/offers all through it. this will keep a lot(not all) from just reselling it or giving it away and even if they do, they are spamming your links.

don't make another ebook about making money. those things are most often grabbed and spread around on torrents, rapidshare and such.

go the extra distance and print the book on paper. :D
you can (probably) charge more, too. if someone wants
a refund then they'll have to mail the book back to you in
resalable condition. lot of people won't do that.

I might figure out a way to stuff a cookie or two as well as the affiliate links in the book if you are worried about it being shared. It will get shared...try to take advantage of the free traffic.

Maybe some of these kind folks that are (reviewers) of your freely downloaded book could even write you a positive review or 2

You dont need an audience for dp selling though :p

A physical book would be so neat. More effort but more secure.
