Guys, does anyone have any idea about the story behind wpf636?
On one of the websites I observe 400 new backlinks have appeared, all linking to a strange search string with a mix of Korean, English and Russian characters. This search string returns a "page not found" of course, and doesn't have any effect other than getting that string out into the wild.
So naturally, I was curious about what could be behind it, and had a look at the Russian characters that spell a website: шрf636.сом -- when you search for this in Google, you'll quickly see millions of similar search string links (all created in the space of 4 weeks!)
The text really is a mis-spelling of a domain called wpf636.com which has no real backlink and only answers with a text document "5 re". That's all, no money page, no nothing.
Any idea what could be behind that? Why would someone go through the hassle to create million backlinks to a non-functional web page?
