WP sites down due to plugins installed - anyone?

been suffering downtime from hosting from turnkey. The websites are now redirect to various advertisements and when viewing in mobile it redirect to app store.

This was what they replied "A number of Wordpress sites on the server appear to have been compromised, via Wordpress itself or third party software installed within Wordpress.

If you like, we can issue a restore of your site files from the most recent backup to get your site back online. The backup is dated July 29th."


Anyone having the same issue.

probably you have a bad wordpress plugin or turnkey got hacked
 
I installed wordpress on some newly bought domains this week. Been seeing a lot of 500 internal server error.

that could be because you are exceeding the allocated resources, you might see the reasons if you take a look at the Errors Log on your cPanel
 
Last week one of my site got hacked due to a nulled theam which is downloaded here long time ago... So you should check your theams and plugins....

I installed a free theme but will that cause all my other sites affected?

I thought about that too. But these domains are practically blank. No traffic, and like 10-20 MBs of data.
 
the free theme you installed must be hacked. If all your sites are on the same shared hosting then they will all be infected.

Accept their offer to re install backups and dont be downloading random stuff in future.

So after reinstalled by the hosting company, must i totally delete away the suspected theme?
 
If your sites have been performing fine until now and you are pretty sure that yu havent been hacked then all suspicion would lie with the theme that you recently installed.

If I got my sites back to normal I would be happy to completely ditch that theme, Also worth considering any upgrades to plugins etc.

Theres been a few security checks shared that can be run on themes and plugins. Have a search there in the archives and you will find something from the last three months.
