WP Multisite Problem

OK, so I have followed the WP codex to the letter and set up a Multisite. Wildcard subdomaining is enabled at my host by default. I have it set to Subdirectory blog creation as opposed to subdomain blog creation. Under subdomain blog creation it just would NOT function, I would just be sent to a 404 page at my host. After setting multisite to create new blogs as subdirectories of my site, the blogs are created but the themes are not installed and there is no backend. All that exists is a bare HTML template with a hello world post. No decoration, no images, no CSS, just bare html.

What could I be doing wrong? I've checked the htaccess and wp-config files and they are letter for letter the same as on the WP codex.

Any help woiuld be much appreciated.

    Cheers :)

I've just setup multiple but went down the subdomain path.

Regarding your themes; there is a theme section in your super admin and you have to enable the themes individually for you network.

It's all in your rewrite rules.
Have your host setup your .htaccess for you
    I had the same problem.
