This might be a noob and stupid question(but just look beside my avatar 
), and is also the first thread I'm starting, so take it easy on me guys!
So what I want to know is if it's possible to transfer a WP installation from one host to another?
My hosting provider said it wasn't possible, but I guess it was kind of stupid to ask them that question, as I was expecting nothing but that answer from them. If that is feasible, as I think it is, any ideas on how to do it? I've read somethings on our good friend, the google, but I found it rather confusing, because it was more about backups than transfers. And regarding transfers what I read was about transferring within the same host, like from a subdomain to a domain.
I think that in theory that transfer should be perfectly possible, it's just a bunch of files, and I've done that many times with sites I created in Dreamweaver and it was piece of cake! What bugs and confuses me is the WP installation, I have no control over it as it was done by Installatron, I hate this lack of control over my sites(but no way I'm installing WP without an installer). In some ways DW is so much easier! And I like the code being on my PC, not only server sided!
Do I need to create a fresh WP installation on the new(gaining) host in order to transfer there my current WP site? I would have to do lots of modifications to that installation and I think that would become a big mess...
