WP: Analytics vs StatPress vs AwStats vs Statcounter?

I think google analytics is the best and i use it for all my sites.

statspress all the way
i guest for BH u cant use analytics

cheers

statcounter only counts a visit if the the visitor is on the site more than 30 seconds or 45

Personally I use getclicky, it's realtime and track location as well as keywords. I use it on all my blogs.

I've always used AWStats , it' does the job and most of them does the job well and gives accurate traffic stats to.

Try Piwik. It`s Easy to use and Free.

I use Statcounter for most my sites. I toyed around with analytics, but fear googles prying eyes. :)

Statcounter works well enough for my purposes.

I can easily see all my sites in overview. Just scanning those numbers often quickly leads me to a problem I need to address.

Since I'm accustomed to looking at sites using statcounter, I easily get a gut feel for how sites are doing.

Now if I were flipping sites I may be tempted to use some other counter that counts all those short visits, or use one that is hailed as the most accurate... But for a general tool, I can quickly see what's going on, and if I need to dig deeper I pry into the servers raw logs. But hmmm... haven't done that in ages.

I wonder if I should open another statcounter account when I start autoblogging? I haven't looked at their code in a while...can't remember if there is a user id that would give a footprint...probably not.. okay starting to ramble... back away from the keyboard.

Another vote here for Piwik. It's free, detailed, and you own all your own data. I personally refuse to let Google profile me and have not used any of their analytics in years.

I also like statcounter, but look at the script, they give you. It has a hidden follow link from every page. Ofcourse you could edit the code ;) Because of these forced links, statcounter was PR9 a long time, now its just PR8 anoymore.

And I want to mention Open Web Analytics.

AWstats and back out the bot visits but I"m open to new tool suggestions. I can link visits directly to the number of respective downloads of my PDF so I have found AWstats to be a decent metric.

Well if you go anywhere else outside of cpanel then your not going to get an accurate reading. But if you go to any of the stat programs inside cpanel you will get more accurate results because it can ask the server how many and the server will respond instantly and accuratly
