I have used youtube premium for 4 years and I am paying roughly 4€ per month for family. Setup the subscription via VPN and get regional pricing (Argentina or Turkey). 4€ per month totally worth it imo.
What VPN did you get to be able to buy it in Turkey?

In the same way be ready to pay for gmail and even google Maps. Now it is unimaginable to live a life without Google Maps. Just think of the day they start charging for this service.

Ublock origin is very easy to use.
Just install the right version for your browser, then go to details and
allow the extension to read and change all your data only on specific websites [click add a new page]. Choose this option if you only want to use Ublock origin for blocking YouTube ads, like I do.

Does this work for US residents? Can I just switch on a VPN to Turkey, signup, then login using my USA IP on my flat screen tv & watch Premium?

Use a VPN from Turkey or Argentina. It's extremely cheap and totally worth it, since you can use it on all platforms, not just PC.
