WOW $813 CPC , insane!!!

What's with some of the keywords on spyfu?

$1800 for rugs usa.. There's no way. Most rugs are $100-$200.

They'd have to expect each user to buy 15 or so rugs. Or every 3 users to buy 50 rugs :)

And what about clare florist for $380. That also can't be true.

The only result I see for verizonwireless is vodaphone. Strange, strange stuff. How can they possibly be profiting from such a high cpc.

I just checked on adwords for rugs usa and the average cpc is CA$1,588.97
so Spyfu is not far :)
Google misleading people again ....?

The only explanation would be that it is for rug wholesales distributing. They wouldn't be targeting individual consumers. Even with not great conversions, if they gain 1 lifetime contact, that could mean 50-100 rugs every month being sold to that 1 visitor.

That sounds plausible, but I think even that wouldn't do a 800$ per CLICK! That would do a 800$ per signup, but if you have low converting clicks that will cost the company which offers that cost lots of money.

That makes sense if there's a lot of wholesale buyers, yes. It could very well be a long-term investment.

What about the florist one though and some of the others. Some very baffling keywords.

On second inspection rugs usa has 9900 searches per month for the US. There's no way anywhere near as many of those are wholesale buyers.

Also, rugs usa is the name of a company, so if anyone's googling that they already know about the company. Therefore if they wanted to buy wholesale they would just contact the company directly.

So I'm still baffled.

Nobody advertises on those keywords so there's almost no use in building sites related to them...
 
They dont get charged 800$, they just offer and pay few bucks...
 
I think Ferrari can afford .

And rugs... can be flying woven, rugs of gold. :D
 
i find it hard to believe that the cpc would be that price i would say a maximum would be around $25 and even then that would still be high
 
800 $ cpc !!!!!! hard to believe but what if it was true !

Its up to you to believe it or not but I have a website that gets tones of visitors from this keyword VERIZONWIRELESS and I have adsense only, the best value per click I have ever got is approx $0.8-$1.5 nothing more, my website is not new in adsense and this numbers are after 2 years activity, BTW my rates are great to have in your adsense account, more than few dollars a click consider to be legendary, so even if your cost per click is high, it doesnt mean that the sharing with Google is accordingly.

i quite agree. those figures are very misleading. here's what to do if you really wanna know the true value of a keyword..(at least that's how i do it):

1. run the keyword on spyfu
2. check out the no of advertisers for the keyword..
3. copy url of top 5 advertisers (usually such keywords may have only 1 advertiser..in this case verison wireless)
4. visit keywordspy
5. run domain name..and voila..u'll realize that top advertisers are bidding less than $1 for that keyword.

i guess its google's way of misleading mfa sites..or maybe, MAYBE.. is a way of google driving away competition for major advertisers.
 
It's probably a few advertisers setting their max bid ridiculously high because they're trying to be absolutely sure their ad is always first in the list. IIRC they only would actually have to pay their max bid if a competing bidder showed up and made a bid just a bit under that - otherwise they pay FAR less.

I know Google has that quality rating thing, but there's still a bit of an auction aspect in play...I have a handful of keywords I bid on and I hardly ever get dinged for the full amount. (All my bids are in the pennies...they're not for a site with "return customer" potential.)
